Management and organisation structure

Macquarie's organisational approach is designed to be non-hierarchical. Management of the organisation is largely delegated to the Executive Committee, a central group comprising the Chairman, Managing Director, Deputy Managing Director, Head of Risk Management and head of Macquarie 's major business groups.

Within overall guidelines and specific parameters set by the Board and Executive Committee, the business groups have substantial discretion in the conduct of their various businesses.

All business activities are encompassed by a strong risk management framework and are facilitated by a number of Macquarie-wide service areas.

Macquarie's organisational approach encourages a sense of ownership and entrepreneurial endeavour by business managers. It also allows central management to remain focused on risks to Macquarie arising from market and industry forces and issues of medium and long-term significance.
