Macquarie’s major business groups

Macquarie has six operating groups and one division within which individual businesses operate. Businesses specialise in defined product or market sectors and work in close cooperation. Great emphasis is placed on a client's relationship with Macquarie as a whole.

Macquarie Capital (MacCap)

Macquarie Capital includes Macquarie Group's corporate advisory, equity underwriting, specialised funds management (including infrastructure, private equity and real estate1 funds)

With offices in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, North America, Europe, South Africa and the Middle East, Macquarie Capital provides a depth of service including specialist capabilities in:

  • Mergers and acquisitions, takeovers and corporate restructuring advice
  • Equity capital markets and equity and debt capital management and raising
  • Specialised funds management including infrastructure, real estate and private equity funds
  • Debt structuring and distribution
  • Private equity placements
  • Principal products

1The Real Estate Group merger with Macquarie Capital is effective 1 January 2009.

Macquarie Securities (MSG)

Macquarie Securities is composed of three divisions:

Cash

  • The Cash Division operates as a full service institutional cash equities broker in the Asia Pacific region.  In the rest of the world it operates as a specialised intitutional cash equities broker.  It provides ECM through a joint venture with Macquarie Capital Advisors.

Delta1

  • The Delta1 Division combines the group's equity finance, arbitrage trading and synthetic product businesses.
  • The division services institutional and hedge fund clients across a range of markets.

Derivatives

  • The Derivatives Division offers equity-linked investments, trading products and risk management services to wholesale and retail clients in Australia, Asia, Europe, the United States and Latin America.

MSG was formed in April 2008 by merging the operating activities of the Equity Markets Group (excluding the Fund Products Division) and Macquarie Capital Securities Division of Macquarie Capital.

Treasury and Commodities Group (TCG)

Macquarie's Treasury and Commodities Group encompasses:

  • Commodity, energy and environmental financial products, physical and derivatives structuring and trading
  • Commodity (metals, bullion and agricultural) and energy finance
  • Futures (listed derivatives) execution and clearing
  • Debt arrangement, structuring and placement activities
  • Interest rate and credit derivatives structuring and trading
  • Foreign exchange trading and structuring
  • Emerging market bond broking

Macquarie Funds Group (MFG)

Macquarie Funds Group is a full-service fund manager with over 25 years experience and offices in 17 locations around the world.

Macquarie Funds Group offers a diverse range of products including:

  • Managed funds across a wide range of asset classes including cash, fixed income, currencies, resources, listed property, equities, listed infrastructure and private equity. 
  • Funds-based structured products
  • Hedge funds
  • Fund of funds
  • Responsible entity and back-office services

MFG was formed in August 2008 from the merger of the funds and fund-based structured product businesses within the Funds Management Group, Equity Markets Group's Funds Products Division and Macquarie Capital Products Division.

Real Estate Group (REG)

Macquarie's Real Estate Group has businesses in Australia, North America, Asia, Europe and South Africa and provides a range of innovative real estate-related services including:

  • Creation and fund management of listed real estate investment trusts (REITs), unlisted real estate funds and joint ventures
  • Asset management services
  • Investment and development project finance
  • Unlisted equity raising, debt / transaction origination and structuring, real estate securitisation
  • Real estate development
  • Real estate research identifying market trends and opportunities.

Most of Real Estate Group's activities will become part of Macquarie Capital effective from 1 January 2009.

 

Corporate and Asset Finance (CAF)

Corporate and Asset Finance provides innovative and traditional capital, finance and related services to clients operating in selected international markets.  With offices in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, North America and Europe, Corporate and Asset Finance specialises in:

  • Leasing and asset finance
  • Offering tailored debt and finance solutions
  • Asset remarketing, sourcing and trading

Corporate and Asset Finance was formed from the separation of Macquarie Capital Finance from Macquarie Capital in September 2008.
