Macquarie Funds Management appoints national retail sales manager

Macquarie Funds Management (MFM) today announced it has appointed Cathryn Wise as national sales manager for its retail funds management business.

Cathryn joins Macquarie from Barclays Global Investors where she was a national key account manager and was instrumental in the company’s recent growth in the retail market.

Cathryn will establish and lead MFM’s distribution team for the retail market.

Macquarie Funds Management Head of Distribution, Bruce Murphy, said Cathryn was highly regarded among advisers and dealer groups and her background complimented MFM’s focus on dealing with platforms and researchers to form a solid foundation for the Group’s expanding retail business.

"Cathryn joins Macquarie with a solid track record of more than 10 years experience in retail business development,” Mr Murphy said.

Prior to joining Barclays, Cathryn was the Queensland State Manager for Rothschild Australia Asset Management and she also worked with Advance and Westpac.

Mr Murphy said MFM was now in the process of advertising for more business development managers to join Cathryn’s team.

“Macquarie Funds Management’s  focus is on providing a high level of investment and product support to advisers,” Mr Murphy said.

“There is an increasing sophistication in the retail market, including the trend towards model portfolios, and advisers are looking for a level of expertise and service that supports them, meets their needs and provides direct input from investment specialists from each of the major asset classes.”

Mr Murphy said Cathryn would join Macquarie on 10 May.
