What is a MAC ID?
This is your Macquarie Access Code Identification Number that identifies you as a Macquarie customer and is used to access our self service banking facilities. If you are an existing Macquarie customer then you will have already been issued with a MAC ID.
Can I apply if my previous address is an overseas address?
We require your current residential address to be an Australian address. Please provide details of this overseas address in the previous residential address fields on your Application Form.
What is an ‘additional cardholder’?
An additional cardholder is any other person you authorise to make transactions on your account. They will be issued with their own Card and all transactions will be charged to your account. Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Founding Members can have up to four free additional cardholders. Macquarie Bank Visa RateSaver additional cardholder annual fee is $10.
To request an additional cardholder, please provide us with their details on the ‘additional cardholder’ section of your Application Form or complete an Additional Cardholder Request Form.
Can I get a Card for my partner and children?
If they are 18 years of age or over, your partner or child may be eligible to apply for their own Card.
Alternatively, you can authorise your partner or a child of 16 years of age or over to be an additional cardholder on your account. Please provide us with their details on the ‘additional cardholder’ section of your Application Form or complete an Additional Cardholder Request Form.
I’m a franchisee – what do I put as my employment status?
Please select ‘self employed’.
How long does it take before I get my Card?
We make every effort to process applications within 10 working days. To assist us in processing your application quickly, please complete your Application Form in full.
How is my credit limit determined?
Your credit limit is determined by the information provided on the Application Form and in accordance with our credit policy. You will be notified of your credit limit if your application is approved.
Can I find out my limit before I apply?
No. You will be notified of this limit if your application is approved.
Can I apply for a higher credit limit?
After six months you can apply to have your credit limit increased. Additionally, we regularly review credit limits and will contact you to offer you an increased credit limit if you are eligible.
Can I apply for a business card?
Macquarie will be launching a business credit card later in the year. Please register your interest at macquariecards@macquarie.com
Features of the Card
What is the annual fee for the Card?
The annual fee for the Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Card is $200, for Macquarie Bank Visa Gold Card is $100, and for Macquarie Bank Visa RateSaver Card is $50.
How and when will the annual fee be charged?
The annual fee is charged when you activate your Card, then annually on the anniversary of the opening of your account.

Will this current interest rate change?
Macquarie Bank reserves the right to change our interest rates. You will be notified in advance via a national newspaper.
How is interest calculated?
Interest is calculated based on the balance you have outstanding on each day of the statement cycle. The interest rate, also known as the ‘Annual Percentage Rate’ (APR) is included on the front page of every statement you receive. Interest is calculated based on the daily rate of interest (the APR divided by the number of days per year). This rate is also included on each monthly statement and is effective for interest calculations in that statement period.
What is the number of interest free days?
Up to 55 days interest free on purchases.

The Fees and Charges applicable to the Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Cards, Macquarie Bank Visa Gold Cards, and Macquarie Bank RateSaver Visa Cards are:

Can I link my account to another Macquarie product?
Your Credit Card cannot be linked directly to other Macquarie products at this time. However, if you wish to automatically pay the balance of your account from your Macquarie Cash Management Trust or other Macquarie account you can request a direct debit.
Where can I use my Macquarie Credit Card?
You can use your Card wherever Visa is accepted. Visa cards are accepted worldwide at 24 million merchants, 1 million ATMs and in 160 countries.
Can I use my Card to make purchases online?
Yes, your Card can be used to make purchases online. As an added feature, all Macquarie Cards come with our Zero Liability promise on all unauthorised or fraudulent internet purchases.
Can I use my VISA card at ATMs?
Yes, by entering your ATM PIN you can withdraw cash at any ATM where the VISA, Maestro or Cirrus symbol is displayed (over 1 million ATMs worldwide).
Can I use my Card overseas?
Yes, you can use your Card overseas wherever VISA is accepted.
What is the chip on my Card?
Every Macquarie Credit Card features an embedded security microchip. This innovative technology makes your Card much more secure than standard cards, which only have the magnetic strip on the back. The chip adds an extra layer of security, making it very difficult to copy your Card details.
Contactless technology
What is “contactless payment technology”?
Contactless payment technology removes the need for a signature, PIN or loose change and provides you with greater speed and minimum hassle when making payments. You will have the option to pay for food and beverages at the SCG and SFS by simply waving your card near a contactless terminal.
How much faster is a contactless transaction?
Research indicates contactless transactions are significantly faster than a normal credit card transaction.
Are there limits as to the size and number of transactions that can be conducted using this contactless technology?
Yes, there is a maximum of $100 per single transaction at the SCG and SFS. The maximum limit may alter at different merchants
Is there an increased risk of fraud as no signature or PIN is required?
The technology offers you greater security as the card never leaves your hands when making a transaction, thereby reducing the opportunity for your card details to be copied or compromised.
Can I request to be reissued with the new Card?
Yes, if you are an existing Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum cardholder, you can request to have a contactless Platinum Card reissued on your account. Please call 1300 150 300 and request a contactless card.
I have a Macquarie Bank Visa RateSaver Card. Will I be reissued with a new contactless payment technology Card?
No, the contactless payment technology is only available on the Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Card.
Access/PINs
What passwords do I need to access areas of my account?
Telephone Banking PIN – used to access telephone banking. Please call us on 1300 150 300 if you need this reset.
Macquarie Access Code (MAC ID) and your temporary password – Used to access MyCards. Please call us on 1300 150 300 and we can re-supply your MAC ID and re-issue your temporary password.
RETAIL/ATM PIN - used to verify point-of-sale purchases, or to obtain a cash advance from an ATM. Please call us on 1300 150 300 and we will be able to resend your ATM PIN to you.
Macquarie Bank Rewards Password – used to access MyRewards. You can change your Macquarie Bank Rewards passwords at the change password page once you log in to your online rewards account.
Can I choose my PIN?
Unfortunately, you are not able to change your RETAIL/ATM PIN from the one that has been issued with your Card. You can select your own Telephone Banking PIN (TPIN) through our telephone banking service.
What do I do if I have forgotten my PIN?
Please call us on 1300 150 300 and we will be able to resend your RETAIL/ATM PIN to you, or reset your Telephone Banking PIN.
I have forgotten my password to MyCards.
Please call us on 1300 150 300 and we will be able to reset your internet password. This will then be posted to you within five (5) working days.
I have forgotten my password to the Macquarie Bank Rewards site.
You are able to generate a temporary password by providing your Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Card number, date of birth and registered email address of the primary cardholder on the Macquarie Bank Rewards website. Your temporary password will be sent to the email address registered to your Macquarie Bank Rewards account and you will then have 24 hours in which to log in to your online account before the temporary password expires.
Balance Transfers
What is a balance transfer?
This is a request to transfer part, or all of your outstanding balance from another credit card to your Macquarie Credit Card account. When you request a balance transfer we will BPAY funds to your nominated Card account and debit this to your Macquarie Bank Card account. Please allow up to five (5) business days for balance transfer requests to be processed.
What is the limit for balance transfers?
The limit on balance transfers is equal to the credit limit on your Card, less $500. Should the amount of your balance transfer exceed your limit for balance transfers, we will contact you before processing your request.
When can I request a balance transfer?
You can request a balance transfer when you apply for a Card, or anytime after by completing a balance transfer request online through MyCards.
Insurance
How do I access the Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Card and Macquarie Bank Visa Gold Card insurance benefits?*
Under the master policies held by Macquarie Bank, you receive automatic access to the benefits detailed in the Terms and Conditions section of the Conditions of Use booklet, subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions specified, if you are a Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum or Macquarie Bank Visa Gold cardholder.
Who is covered under Macquarie Bank Platinum Credit Card and Macquarie Bank Visa Gold Credit Card travel insurances?*
Certain overseas travel insurance is available to Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum cardholders and Macquarie Bank Visa Gold cardholders who obtain their return overseas travel tickets prior to leaving Australia on their Macquarie Platinum Card or Gold Card, as fully set out in the Terms and Conditions section of the Conditions of Use booklet. This cover is also available to the cardholder’s spouse and dependent children travelling with the cardholder for the entire journey if their return overseas travel tickets were obtained by use of the Primary cardholder’s eligible credit card account.
How does a Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum cardholder or Macquarie Bank Visa Gold cardholder obtain approval for medical expenses in a medical emergency overseas?*
Contact the Emergency Assistance Company as soon as the medical emergency occurs on +61 2 8907 5666 and provide your Macquarie Bank Card number with as much information as possible about the medical emergency including your contact details.
Are gifts and articles purchased during trips covered under the Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Card or Macquarie Bank Visa Gold travel insurance?*
Yes they are, subject to the full terms, conditions and exclusions of the Terms and Conditions section of the Macquarie Bank Credit Card Conditions of Use booklet.
Is a police report necessary in order to make a claim under the Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Card or Macquarie Bank Visa Gold travel insurance?*
Claims for loss, theft or criminal damage must be reported to the local police, carrier, tour operator or accommodation manager and a written report obtained within forty-eight (48) hours of the incident occurring. Claims for damage of items in transit must be reported to the carrier and a written report obtained within twenty-four (24) hours of receiving your personal baggage.
Do I have to pay an excess if I make a successful claim under the Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Card or Macquarie Bank Visa Gold travel insurance?*
Yes, AUD100 excess applies to claims made under the following travel insurance benefits:

What does the Overseas Travel Insurance cover?*
You are automatically eligible for complimentary Overseas Travel Insurance provided that you purchase the travel ticket prior to your departure in Australia on your Platinum or Gold Card or with your Reward points. Cover includes unlimited medical emergency expenses cover, unlimited travel cancellation cover (but for limited agents’ cancellation fees), plus cover for travel delays, lost and stolen personal items and rental vehicle excesses. Cover is available for overseas trips commencing and ending in Australia of up to one hundred and twenty (120) days for Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum cardholders, and ninety days (90) for Macquarie Bank Visa Gold cardholders. Under certain circumstances, these benefits also extend to the cardholder’s spouse and dependent children. What is Interstate Flight Inconvenience Insurance?*
If you are a Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum cardholder, you will receive this cover for interstate trips of up to fourteen (14) days if you pay for your interstate flight tickets in full on your Platinum Credit Card. You can use your Platinum Credit Card to charge for certain meals or essential items if your trip or the arrival of your accompanying luggage is delayed for the specified periods of time. You're also covered for trip cancellation if your paid holiday flights are cancelled due to the unexpected death, serious injury or serious illness of your travel companion or close relative. What is Transport Accident Insurance?*
Transport Accident Insurance provides certain accidental death and dismemberment insurance for Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum cardholders or Macquarie Bank Visa Gold cardholders who purchase their travel tickets before departing Australia and, whilst travelling outside Australia, have an accident that results in loss of life, hands, feets or sight whilst riding as a passenger in, or boarding or alighting a plane, tourist bus, train or ferry. What is Purchase Security insurance?*
Purchase Security Insurance is available for Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum cardholders and Macquarie Bank Visa Gold cardholders. What is Extended Warranty insurance?*
Extended Warranty Cover is automatically available to Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum and Macquarie Bank Visa Gold cardholders. This cover extends the original manufacturer’s Australian warranty provided on certain products, if warranty provided by manufacturer is between six (6) months and four (4) years. How do I join the Macquarie Bank Rewards program?
As a Platinum or Gold cardholder you are automatically part of our Rewards program.
Can I choose my own reward?
Yes, you can choose your own reward with either with a Visa Gift Card, which can be used anywhere Visa Prepaid is accepted. Or you can use MyCurrency and redeem your Reward points for whatever you want. Platinum cardholders can select their own rewards using a minimum of 150,000 points and a dollar value of at least $1,000. Simply call the Macquarie Bank Rewards Centre on 1300 653 192 between 9am and 5pm (local time).
How do I earn Reward points?
Use your Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Card instead of cash, cheques or other cards and you’ll earn 1.25 Reward points for every dollar you spend^ on your Card, with a Macquarie Bank Visa Gold Card you earn 1 Reward point for every dollar you spend+ on your Card.
You’ll also earn bonus points through a range of bonus partners. Plus, earn double bonus points on all travel purchases made through MyChoice Travel using your Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum or Gold Card. That's 3.25 Reward points for Platinum, and 3 Reward points for Gold per dollar spent+.
What can I redeem Reward points for?
Reward points can be redeemed for a variety of luxury gifts, entertainment, magazine subscriptions, gift cards, homewares, electronics and a wide range of travel options, including flights.
Do my Rewards points expire?
No, your Reward points will not expire while your account remains open and operates in accordance with your account terms and conditions.
What is Points Plus Pay?
If you don’t have enough points to redeem, you can now receive your reward sooner with Points Plus Pay. You can use as many or as few of your Reward points as you wish and then “top up” the balance with a payment from your Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum or Gold Card. You'll also earn 1.25 Reward points^ for Platinum, and 1 Reward point+ for Gold, for every dollar of the 'top up' amount charged to your Card. Points Plus Pay is only available on merchandise and travel rewards (excluding vouchers) and can be used for redemptions made online at macquariebankrewards.com.au or by contacting the Macquarie Bank Rewards Centre on 1300 653 192 between 9am and 5pm (local time).
What is MyChoice Travel?
MyChoice Travel is an over-the-phone travel booking service for Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum cardholders.
At MyChoice Travel you can book almost any travel arrangement worldwide including flights, accommodation, car hire, tours and more using your Reward points to pay for all or part of your travel booking. Alternatively, you can charge your holiday to your Card and earn 3.25 Reward points^ on Platinum, and 3 Reward points+ on Gold per dollar spent.
If all you need is a flight, you can redeem online at macquariebankrewards.com.au with a minimum of 5,000 Reward points required to book.
Will I earn Reward points when I travel overseas?
Yes, you will earn 1.25 Reward points per dollar spent^ on your Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Card, and 1 Reward point per dollar spent+ on your Macquarie Bank Visa Gold Card, while travelling overseas.
Can I earn bonus points?
Yes, with our extensive range of bonus partners you can earn more points faster. Earn at least 1 additional Reward point for every dollar you spend and select from an extensive range of bonus partner categories, including travel, accommodation, telecommunications, flowers and gifts.
Are all transactions eligible for Reward points?
While most transactions made on your Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum or Macquarie Bank Visa Gold Card will earn you Reward points, some transactions do not. You do not earn Reward points on cash advances, interest charges, gambling chip purchases, internet gambling transactions, credit fees and charges, disputed transactions, foreign exchange purchases, traveller’s cheques and credit card payments.
What happens to my Reward points if I get a refund for a purchase on my Card?
If your account is credited with a refund from a merchant then the equivalent number of Rewards points will be deducted from your account.
Can I transfer Reward points to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program?
Whilst our Rewards program does not enable you to transfer points to the Qantas Frequent Flyer Program, you are able to use your Reward points to redeem flights with MyChoice Travel, including Qantas flights. You can also use your points to redeem for almost any travel arrangement worldwide including accommodation, car hire, tours and more. If all you need is a flight, you can redeem online at macquariebankrewards.com. All you need is a minimum of 5,000 Reward points to book.
How long does it take to receive rewards?
Rewards will normally be delivered to you within twenty-eight (28) days.
How long are Rewards vouchers and gift cards valid for?
The terms of validity for each reward voucher can vary. Generally they are valid for twelve (12) months from the date of issue.
Do I have to pay for freight on the delivery of my reward?
Certain rewards may require you to pay a delivery charge. There is no delivery charge for vouchers. To find out if there will be a freight charge associated with your redemption, contact our Rewards Centre on 1300 653 192 between 9am and 5pm (local time).
How can I check which rewards are currently available?

What happens to my Reward points if I close my Card account?
If you close your Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Card or Macquarie Bank Visa Gold Card account, your Macquarie Bank Rewards account will also be cancelled. Once you close your account your points will be forfeited and you will be unable to redeem.
How do I change my Macquarie Bank Rewards password?
You can change your Macquarie Bank Rewards password on the Change Password page. To do this you must first log in to your online account using your registered email address and current password. You will find the Change Password page in the My Account section.
Account Maintenance
How do I get a cash advance?
You can get a cash advance from your Card at any ATM that accepts VISA, by using your Card and your RETAIL/ATM PIN. Alternatively, you can also request a cash advance over the counter at any bank that accepts VISA, using your Card and providing your signature and photo identification.
What is the limit for a cash advance?
The daily limit for cash advances is $1,000 via an ATM and $5,000 over the counter at a bank.
How often will I receive a statement?
You will receive a credit card statement monthly if you have transactions during that period.
Can I change my bill due date?
Yes, you can nominate the date that your monthly bill is due by contacting us on 1300 150 300. Please select a date between the 1st and the 28th.
Can I receive my statement by email?
Yes, please log onto MyCards or contact us on 1300 150 300 to request email statements.
Will my additional cardholder also get a statement?
No, only the primary cardholder receives a monthly statement. This statement will contain details of any transactions made by the primary cardholder and any additional cardholders.
Does the additional cardholder have the same level of access as the primary cardholder?
Any additional cardholder’s have the same access to information about your account. However, they are restricted from making any changes (such as change of address) to your account.
How do I pay my account?
Direct Debit – This automatically pays your Card account every month by the due date, from the bank account of your choice. With this flexible option you can choose to pay any amount equal to, or greater than the minimum payment due. To request a direct debit please complete this form.
BPAY® – This can be done through phone or internet banking (directly from your bank). Your reference number is your 16-digit Card number (which is the same as the account number printed on your statement) and the biller code is 423251.
Post – Please ensure you enclose your completed payment slip from your monthly statement and mail with your cheque (no notes or coins accepted) to GPO Box 46990 Sydney NSW 2001. Please make the cheque payable to Macquarie Bank and include your account number.
Post Office – For payment made at any other Australia Post using cash or EFTPOS, please allow 48 hours for the payment to reach your account. When paying by cheque at any Australia Post office please allow six business days for the cheque to clear. However, funds will be considered received the day the cheque is deposited. A $2 over the counter transaction fee is applicable to all cash, EFTPOS or cheque payments made at Australia Post.
What is an outstanding authorisation?
This is when the estimated value of a purchase – for example, a hotel stay, that has been held for a period of days to allow the merchant to process the transaction. An outstanding authorisation reduces the cardholder's available credit, but not the balance owing on the Card.
Can I authorise a third party to access information about my account?
Yes, you can authorise a third party to access information about your account by completing a Authorised Representative Request Form. This form can be downloaded via MyCards.
How can I order a replacement credit card?
If your Card is damaged for any reason, please call us on 1300 150 300 and we will be able to organise a replacement Card to be sent to you within seven (7) business days.
What if my Card is lost or stolen?
If your Card is lost or stolen, please contact us immediately on 1800 618 167, or if you are calling from overseas, +61 2 9017 9520, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Online Maintenance
Can I see details of my credit card account online?
You are able to view your balance, transactions, payment information and request electronic statements, etc., at MyCards, our online banking website.
Can I make future dated payments via BPAY®?
Unfortunately, you are currently unable to make future payments using internet or telephone banking.
Additional Cardholder
What is an ‘additional cardholder’?
An additional cardholder is any other person you authorise to make transactions on your account. They will be issued with their own Card and all transactions will be charged to your account. Macquarie Bank Platinum Founding Members can have up to four free additional cardholders. Macquarie Bank RateSaver additional card fee is $10. To request an additional cardholder, please provide us with their details on the ‘additional cardholder’ section of your application form or complete an Additional Cardholder Request Form.
Does the additional cardholder have the same level of access as the primary cardholder?
Any additional cardholder has the same access to information about your account. However, they are restricted from making any changes (such as change of address) to your account.
How do I add or remove an additional cardholder from my card account?
You are able to add an additional cardholder to you account by completing an Additional Cardholder Request Form.. To remove an additional cardholder on your account, you will need to contact us on 1300 150 300.

What is the Founding Member offer?
The first people to apply for the Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Card will qualify for Founding Member status. This is a strictly limited offer. As a Founding Members you will have access to exclusive events and offers, plus have 'Founding Member' appear on your Card.
How do I purchase a ticket to a Founding Member event?
To purchase a ticket to any of the Founding Member events, please call 02 8585 4343 between 9am and 5pm EST. You will need to purchase all tickets on your Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Card.
How do I become a Founding Member?
For a limited time, everyone who applies, and is approved for, a Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Card, will automatically qualify to become a Founding Member.
How do I know if I am a Founding Member?
If you have a Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Card, and the statement ‘Founding Member’ will appear on the top left of your Card, then you are a Founding Member.

When can I use my Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Card to make payment at the SCG and SFS?
The SCG and SFS will be able to accept the Macquarie Bank Visa Platinum Card for contactless payments commencing at the Cricket in January 2009.
When will the express lanes be available at the SCG and SFS?
The express lanes will be available for Macquarie Bank cardholders when we launch at the Cricket in January 2009.
How will I be able to locate the express lanes?
The express lanes are located at selected food and beverage outlets in both the general public and members areas in both stadiums. Directional signage will be located near all express lanes and details of their locations will be included with your new card.
