Global Tower Partners

Global Tower Partners (GTP) (28.7% owned by MCG) is a leading owner and operator of towers and sites for wireless communications services in the United States (US). It has a portfolio of approximately 3,000 towers in urban, suburban and key corridor locations across the US and Puerto Rico.

GTP’s primary business is leasing antenna space on multi-tenant communications sites to wireless service providers. GTP manages approximately 3,000 towers across the US.

GTP’s communications site portfolio provides a recurring base of leasing revenues from existing customers and growth potential due to the capacity to add more tenants and equipment to these sites.
GTP markets space available for leasing on existing sites and selectively develops and acquires new sites. Since inception in October 2003, GTP has completed approximately 62 acquisitions of tower portfolios. In calendar year 2007, GTP constructed approximately 80 new towers.

GTP has a quality diversified tenant base with no tenant accounting for more than 18 per cent of run rate revenue. Revenue from the “Big 4” carriers (Sprint-Nextel, AT&T Wireless, Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile) accounts for approximately 49 per cent of total revenue.

GTP’s towers have an average capacity of approximately 3.7 broadband-equivalent tenants per tower and an average 2 tenants per tower. GTP has achieved a historical lease-up average of 0.19 new tenants per tower over the eight quarters before acquisition.

GTP leases the land underneath substantially all of its towers and typically enters into long-term leases or other arrangements with landlords.
