SBS awards 44 new digital service contracts to Broadcast Australia |
|
|
13 April 2005 Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group (MCG) today announced that Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) Corporation has awarded Broadcast Australia (BA) the contract to provide digital television transmission services, and downlink services where applicable, to 44 new service areas as part of SBS’s ongoing digital TV rollout program. The new SBS contract will enhance BA’s long term revenue profile, providing approximately $4.1 million in additional revenue per annum, once all services are fully operational. Services are contracted for a period of 15 years from commissioning (total value over the contract period is $61.5 million). Mr Scott Davies, CEO of MCG, said “Broadcast Australia is now contracted to provide digital television transmission services to 159 SBS sites nationally. The SBS decision to award these contracts to BA is another milestone in the developing partnership between the organisations and is further proof that BA is achieving its goal to deliver quality transmission services in metropolitan and regional Australia”. MCG understands that, after the current award, approximately 76 SBS sites remain to be contracted and will be the subject of a future allocation process to be determined by SBS.
