Arqiva and Digital 3 & 4 sign Heads of Agreement for digital TV network

28 November 2005

Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group (MCG) advises that Arqiva1 has been selected by Digital 3 & 4 (D3&4) as preferred supplier of a new high-power digital terrestrial TV (DTT) network for the UK’s main commercial television channels ITV and Channel 4.

Under the agreement, it is envisaged that Arqiva will design, build and then operate the digital network, which will replace both analogue ITV/C4 and the existing low-power DTT services. D3&4 and Arqiva are working towards finalising the contract.
Mr Scott Davies, CEO of MCG, said: "This agreement sets the framework through which Arqiva will deliver the generational change for ITV and Channel 4 in the UK, both through the Digital Switch Over period (2008-2012) and beyond.

“With strong relationships with its key customers, and technical expertise at the forefront of digital developments, Arqiva is well placed as a major provider of digital services to UK broadcasters,” Mr Davies said.

1 MCG acquired 54% of Arqiva in January 2005. Arqiva provides television, radio and satellite broadcasting coverage to 98.5% of the UK as well as wirless site leasing capabilities and communications services to public safety oranisations. Arqiva represents approximately half of MCG’s portfolio.
