06 December 2002 Broadcast Australia today welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator the Hon Richard Alston, encouraging the use of datacasting spectrum for the trialling of new content services in metropolitan and regional Australia. Broadcast Australia is a key stakeholder in the future of digital television services in Australia and has consistently expressed its views in support of the roll-out of new digital services. Broadcast Australia will seriously investigate the opportunities presented by this announcement in relation to both datacasting trials in metropolitan areas and the possibility of delivering internet services to regional Australia via datacasting spectrum.
