Appointment of Additional Independent Director |

07 April 2003 Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group (MCG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mel Ward AO as the third independent director to the boards of Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Limited (MCIL) and the responsible entity (Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Management Limited (MCIML)). Mr Ward has a long and distinguished career in the telecommunications industry including Managing Director of Telecom Australia and Chairman of Telecom Australia (International) Limited from 1986 till 1992. Previous positions included Chief General Manager, Chief Development Engineer and General Manager Commercial Services. Since leaving Telstra, Mr Ward has been appointed as an independent director to a number of boards of publicly listed companies including AXA Asia Pacific Holdings Limited, Coca-Cola Amatil Ltd, Transfield Services Limited, and West Australian Newspapers Ltd. He is also Chairman of Pro Medicus Ltd. It has been announced that he will not be standing for re-election as a director on the AXA Asia Pacific Holdings Limited Board at the AGM to be held on 24 April 2003. Mr Ward graduated from Queensland University with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Master of Engineering Science. The Directors of the MCIL Board are:

Gerry Moriarty will become an Executive Director of Macquarie Bank. Mr Ward’s appointment is as a consequence of Macquarie Bank’s announcement on 14 November 2002 detailing the implementation of a range of corporate governance initiatives, including a revised definition of director independence and the appointment of a majority of independent directors to the boards of all listed specialist funds managed by Macquarie Bank subsidiaries.
