Macquarie Infrastructure Group (formerly Infrastructure Trust of Australia Group) Eastern Distributor Opening |

13 October 1999 Macquarie Infrastructure Investment Management Limited (MIIML), the Manager of Macquarie Infrastructure Group (MIG), today announced that the project manager for the construction of the Eastern Distributor, Leighton Contractors Pty Limited, had informed MIG that the Eastern Distributor will open to toll paying traffic on 19 December 1999 - more than eight months ahead of schedule. The Eastern Distributor will exclusively be a cash toll facility with the car toll being $3 for north bound traffic (south bound traffic will not pay a toll). It is expected that electronic tolling will be phased in during 2000, allowing ample time to trial the system.
