MIG Eastern Distributor Traffic, January 2000

Macquarie Infrastructure Investment Management Limited (MIIML), the Manager of Macquarie Infrastructure Group (MIG), today announced details on traffic use for the Eastern Distributor toll road in Sydney. MIG owns 68.4% of the equity in the Airport Motorway Group which holds a 48 year concession for the Eastern Distributor.

The Eastern Distributor opened on 18 December 1999. Average daily tolled traffic for December was 20,486. Average daily tolled traffic for January 2000 was 22,296, a 9% increase over last month. The maximum daily tolled traffic recorded during this period was 29,063 which occurred on Friday, 21 January 2000.

It is the view of the Manager that, taking into account the seasonal influence on traffic of the holiday period (January volumes are typically around 10% below December’s on other Sydney toll roads), these traffic figures are consistent with the traffic projections used in financial modelling for the Eastern Distributor.

The Manager is pleased with all operational aspects of the Eastern Distributor. More than 60,000 vehicles are now using the road daily (note that tolls are only paid by north bound traffic).
