Macquarie Infrastructure Group Eastern Distributor (M1), M4 and M5 Traffic, July 2001

Macquarie Infrastructure Group (MIG), today announced details on traffic use for the Eastern Distributor (M1), M4 and M5 toll roads in Sydney.

MIG currently owns 71.35% of the equity in the Airport Motorway Group, which holds a 48 year concession for the Eastern Distributor (M1). It owns 50.6% of Statewide Roads Limited, which holds a concession for the M4 toll road until 2010. It also owns 50% of Interlink Roads Pty Limited, which holds a concession for the M5 toll road that expires in 2022.

Average daily toll revenue (net of GST) for Airport Motorway in July 2001 was $97,344, a 25.4% increase relative to July 2000.

Average daily tolled traffic on the Eastern Distributor (M1) for July 2001 was 14.6% higher than July 2000 and 2.0% higher than June 2001.

From 1 July 2001, the car toll was increased from $3.20 to $3.50 and the truck toll from $6.50 to $7.00.

Average weekday traffic on the Eastern Distributor (M1) for July 2001 was 14.3% higher than July 2000.

Average traffic on weekends and public holidays on the Eastern Distributor (M1) for July 2001 was 11.6% higher than July 2000.

Non-cash transactions on the Eastern Distributor (M1) consisted of 18.9% of average daily traffic in July 2001. A roaming agreement with the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) came into affect on 26 June 2001 resulting in the Eastern Distributor being able to read E-toll tags in addition to the existing E-Way tags.

Average daily toll revenue (net of GST) for Interlink Roads in July 2001 was $195,505, an 18.0% increase relative to July 2000. This partly reflects the toll increase for cars from $2.70 to $3.30 and trucks from $6.50 to $6.60 that occurred on 5 March 2001.

Average daily traffic on the M5 for July 2001 was 1.9% lower than July 2000 and 0.1% higher than June 2001.

Average weekday traffic on the M5 for July 2001 was 2.3% lower than July 2000.

Average traffic on weekends and public holidays on the M5 for July 2001 was 2.7% lower than July 2000.

Non-cash transactions on the M5 in July 2001 consisted of 62.0% of average daily traffic.

Average daily traffic on the M4 for July 2001 was 3.9% lower than July 2000 and 0.2% lower than June 2001.

Average weekday traffic on the M4 for July 2001 was 4.0% lower than July 2000.

Average traffic on weekends and public holidays on the M4 for July 2001 was 6.8% lower than July 2000.

Non-cash transactions on the M4 in July 2001 consisted of 46% of average daily traffic.
