MIG 407ETR, M1, M4 and M5 Traffic, May 2002

Macquarie Infrastructure Group (MIG), today announced details of traffic use for the 407ETR toll road in Toronto and the Eastern Distributor (M1), M4 and M5 toll roads in Sydney.

Due to restrictions imposed by a number of legal agreements dealing with the 407ETR, only monthly statistics on average workday traffic can be released. More detailed statistics on the 407ETR are released quarterly.

MIG currently owns:

  • Both directly and indirectly (through its holding in Spanish company, Cintra) 43.0% of the equity in 407 International Inc, the owner of the concession for the 407ETR toll road in Toronto;
  • 71.35% of the equity in the Airport Motorway Group, the owner of the concession for the Eastern Distributor (M1) in Sydney;
  • 50.6% of Statewide Roads Limited, the owner of the concession for the M4 toll road in Sydney; and
  • 50% of Interlink Roads Pty Limited, the owner of the concession for the M5 toll road in Sydney.

The average number of workday trips on the 407ETR during May 2002 was 12.0% higher than May 2001 and 6.3% higher than April 2002.

Average daily toll revenue (net of GST) for Airport Motorway in May 2002 was $119,446 - a 34.7% increase relative to May 2001. Average daily tolled traffic on the Eastern Distributor (M1) for May 2002 was 22.7% higher than May 2001 and 2.9% higher than April 2002. Average weekday traffic on the Eastern Distributor (M1) for May 2002 was 23.3% higher than May 2001.

Average traffic on weekends and public holidays on the Eastern Distributor (M1) for May 2002 was 20.5% higher than May 2001. Non-cash transactions on the Eastern Distributor (M1) consisted of 34% of average daily traffic in May 2002 (April 2002: 32%).

Average daily toll revenue (net of GST) for Interlink Roads in May 2002 was $272,172 - a 38.0% increase relative to May 2001. Average daily traffic on the M5 for May 2002 was 37.9% higher than May 2001 and 5.5% higher than April 2002. Average weekday traffic on the M5 for May 2002 was 38.7% higher than May 2001.

Average traffic on weekends and public holidays on the M5 for May 2002 was 35.2% higher than May 2001. Non-cash transactions on the M5 in May 2002 consisted of 64% of average daily traffic (April 2002: 61%).

Average daily toll revenue (net of GST) for Statewide Roads in May 2002 was $196,584 - a 5.3% increase relative to May 2001. Note that the truck toll increased from $4.90 to $5.50 on 24 May 2002. Average daily traffic on the M4 for May 2002 was 4.9% higher than May 2001 and 3.8% higher than April 2002. Average weekday traffic on the M4 for May 2002 was 5.2% higher than May 2001.

Average traffic on weekends and public holidays on the M4 for May 2002 was 3.8% higher than May 2001. Non-cash transactions on the M4 in May 2002 consisted of 46% of average daily traffic (April 2002: 44%).
