Macquarie Infrastructure Group 407ETR, M1, M4 and M5 Traffic March 2003

Macquarie Infrastructure Group (MIG), today announced details of traffic use for the 407ETR toll road in Toronto and the Eastern Distributor (M1), M4 and M5 toll roads in Sydney.

Due to restrictions imposed by a number of legal agreements dealing with the 407ETR, only monthly statistics on Average Workday Traffic and Total Vehicle Kilometres Travelled can be released.  More detailed statistics on the 407ETR are released quarterly.

MIG currently owns:

  • Both directly and indirectly (through its holding in Spanish company, Cintra) 43.0% of the equity in 407 International Inc, the owner of the concession for the 407ETR toll road in Toronto;
  • 71.35% of the equity in the Airport Motorway Group, the owner of the concession for the Eastern Distributor (M1) in Sydney;
  • 50.6% of Statewide Roads Limited, the owner of the concession for the M4 toll road in Sydney; and

50% of Interlink Roads Pty Limited, the owner of the concession for the M5 toll road in Sydney.

Total Vehicle Kilometres Travelled on the 407ETR during March 2003 was 1.5% higher than March 2002.

The average number of workday trips on the 407ETR during March 2003 was 0.4% higher than March 2002.

Note that tolls, including the surcharge for non-transponder users, were increased by approximately 15% on 1 February 2003.

Average daily toll revenue (net of GST) for Airport Motorway in March 2003 was $129,088 - a 11.0% increase relative to March 2002.

Average daily tolled traffic on the Eastern Distributor (M1) for March 2003 was 10.4% higher than March 2002.

Average weekday traffic on the Eastern Distributor (M1) for March 2003 was 7.2% higher than March 2002.

Average traffic on weekends and public holidays on the Eastern Distributor (M1) for March 2003 was 15.0% higher than March 2002.

Non-cash transactions on the Eastern Distributor (M1) consisted of 41% of average daily traffic in March 2003 (February 2003: 40%).

Average daily toll revenue (net of GST) for Interlink Roads in March 2003 was $293,292 - a 12.1% increase relative to March 2002.

Average daily traffic on the M5 for March 2003 was 10.9% higher than March 2002.

Average weekday traffic on the M5 for March 2003 was 9.1% higher than March 2002.

Average traffic on weekends and public holidays on the M5 for March 2003 was 12.6% higher than March 2002.

Non-cash transactions on the M5 in March 2003 consisted of 67% of average daily traffic (February 2003: 66%).

Average daily traffic on the M4 for March 2003 was 5.1% higher than March 2002.

Average weekday traffic on the M4 for March 2003 was 3.1% higher than March 2002.

Average traffic on weekends and public holidays on the M4 for March 2003 was 6.9% higher than March 2002.

Non-cash transactions on the M4 in March 2003 consisted of 53% of average daily traffic (February 2003: 51%).
