Chicago Skyway Financial Close |
|
|
25 January 2005 Macquarie Infrastructure Group (MIG) today announced that it has reached financial close on its acquisition of the Chicago Skyway Tollway (the Skyway). MIG has a 45 per cent ownership interest in the project, with Cintra Concesiones de Infraestructuras de Transporte (Cintra) holding the remaining 55 per cent interest. The acquisition has been funded through a mix of project-level debt and equity contributions from MIG and Cintra. MIG’s equity investment in the project was US$397m (A$522m). Financial close has been reached within the 90 day period provided for from the signing of the Concession and Lease Agreement between the City of Chigaco, MIG and Cintra on October 28, 2004. MIG now has investments in two major toll roads in the United States (Skyway and greenfields project SR125 South in San Diego). Skyway has been in operation since 1959 and has an established traffic and revenue history. It is a 12.5 kilometre divided elevated roadway with a significant bridge over the Calumet River and connects Indiana East-West Toll Road and Dan Ryan Expressway.
