Acquisition and ownership
In November 2005 at the time of listing on the ASX, MMG acquired its regional radio operations, previously known as Macquarie Regional Radioworks. Two years later, in November 2007, MMG successfully acquired Southern Cross Broadcasting and retained the regional free to air television operations and divested the metro radio operations, television production and other associated operations to Fairfax Media Limited (ASX: FXJ). Through the combination of these two businesses, Macquarie Southern Cross Media was formed.
