What’s PayID?

Phone in the dark

PayID® is a service that allows you to send and receive payments in real time. PayID can be enabled by linking one of your eligible accounts to your mobile number as a unique identifier.

When you make payments with PayID, you’ll know who you’re paying, as the payee name is displayed at the time of payment.

Fast and Convenient

You can send and receive payments in real time. It’s available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Easy to remember

Simply share your mobile number instead of your BSB and account number when receiving payments. You can also send payments with PayID using the payee's mobile number if they have PayID.

Secure

PayID provides greater confidence in who you're paying, as their name is displayed at the time of payment.

How to set up a PayID®

You can set up your PayID account using the Macquarie Mobile Banking app. Watch the video for a step-by-step guide on how to set it up.

What do I do after my PayID® is set up?

Provide your PayID if you’re expecting a payment

This will help the payer verify the account is associated to your PayID before they transfer their money.

Making a payment to someone else’s PayID

If the payee’s name displayed is not your intended recipient, check with your payee through a trusted method such as a phone call to verify their payment details before making the payment.

Frequently asked questions

You can create a PayID using the Macquarie Mobile Banking app or through Macquarie Online Banking.

Before you start, there are a few things you need to have done or your request could be denied:

  • make sure your PayID (your mobile number) is not registered at another bank
  • you hold an eligible Macquarie account that can be linked to your PayID as some accounts such as a Macquarie Cash Management Account cannot be linked
  • we completed verifying your identity
  • if you have a joint account, one or more PayIDs can be registered to an account, provided each PayID is unique and not already in use.

If you’d like to move your PayID from one Macquarie account to another (e.g. from a personal account to a business account), you’ll need to close the existing PayID and then set it up again with the new account.

PayID is a service that allows you to use a unique identifier (such as your mobile number) and link it to one of your eligible accounts to receive NPP real time payments. Your PayID can only be registered to one account at a time. For example, if you register your PayID to your personal transaction account then any payments made to your PayID will be paid into that account.

After you create a PayID you can simply tell payers to make payments to your PayID instead of having to remember your BSB and account number.
