Qantas Frequent Flyer program
From 1 July, Qantas Frequent Flyer members will benefit from an enhanced loyalty program that offers a wider range of earning opportunities with more partners and greater choice of Award options, including more Award seats and a greatly expanded merchandise range.
The Qantas Frequent Flyer program recognises and rewards members who are loyal to Qantas and its program partners. To provide its five million Frequent Flyer members with greater choice and flexibility, Qantas have introduced a broader range of options with more ways than ever to use their points for Awards.
The great news is that Qantas & Partner Classic Awards are the same Award Flights members have always had access to – they have just been renamed Classic Awards – and there’s been no change to the number of points required. Other existing benefits of the program, including the opportunity to use points for upgrades, purchase Top Up points or use points to book an Award Flight for an eligible family member, are all still available.
Members have been asking for more options for Award flights, including the ability to use points during peak periods, where availability has traditionally been constrained. With Qantas and Jetstar Any Seat Awards, members will now have access to any available seat on all Qantas and Jetstar flights. That means any available seat, on any Qantas or Jetstar flight, any day, at any time can be an Award seat.
Points required for Qantas and Jetstar Any Seat Awards are not fixed like the Classic Award Flights. Members can choose the all-inclusive points option, which includes surcharges, fees and taxes, or take advantage of the new Points Plus Pay option.

The Qantas Frequent Flyer Store has also expanded its range to offer more than 700 products, gift vouchers and experiences from major retailers and brands. Plus, for most products, you can use the new, flexible Points Plus Pay option.
More than 100 gift vouchers are available, including travel vouchers from Qantas Holidays and other travel partners, as well as many options for hotel and car rental Awards.
The new Points Plus Pay feature is available for both Qantas and Jetstar Any Seat Awards plus selected products from the Qantas Frequent Flyer Store. Points Plus Pay puts members in control of the points they use by allowing them to choose the number of points they want to redeem (above a specified minimum level), together with an additional card payment. This means members don't have to wait to redeem the Award they want.
Simon Hickey, Executive General Manager Group Loyalty Programs, says the 1 July changes introduce improvements without changing any of the program’s underlying value – all features of the existing program remain in place.
In addition, the updated program will make it easier for members to earn points thanks to an increase in the number of Frequent Flyer partners. itravel books, Arthur Galan and Rental Rewards join over 220 partners offering hotel stays, car rental & sales, retail & entertainment and finance, real estate & insurance products and services.
By using an eligible credit or charge card with any of these partners members can make the very most of their membership by earning points twice – once with their card and once with the partner.
