Graduates are quickly integrated into the business and given real responsibility from day one. Most graduates find this challenge to be one of the most enjoyable aspects of their role at Macquarie.

We are seeking high calibre candidates who have a strong interest in the financial services sector, knowledge of current market activity and the desire to be inspired as part of a successful team.
Specifically we look for:
Macquarie recruits graduates from a variety of tertiary disciplines for a broad range of roles across the organisation. Some areas of Macquarie have specific requirements for the qualifications they seek, but others place less emphasis on the type of degree and look for graduates who have the desired general skills and abilities, as well as high levels of motivation.
Relevant disciplines include: Actuarial, Accounting, Business, Commerce, Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering, combined Commerce disciplines such as Commerce/Law, Commerce/Engineering, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Financial Planning, Information Technology, Law, Marketing, Maths, Physics and Science.
Please refer to our What are you studying at University? page for more information.
There are not any specific majors that will guarantee you employment with Macquarie. We recommend you choose a major that you have a genuine interest in and that will provide you with some basic technical skills such as financial modelling, investment theory, accounting, and writing and research skills. If you are focused on a career in finance you will need to demonstrate initiative, strong numerical and analytical skills, an understanding of financial markets and a client service approach.
Please refer to our What are you studying at University? page for more information.
Macquarie cannot guarantee sponsorship for graduate positions, and visa conditions can often make it difficult for overseas students to work permanently in Australia.
Macquarie offers counterpart programs in London, New York and some locations in Asia and you are encouraged to apply for the graduate program in our offshore offices.
Overseas students are eligible to apply for the summer internship program providing they have the appropriate right to work full time over the internship period.
New graduates generally commence in February of each year. However we do take on students at varying times throughout the year, and this is determined on a case by case basis.
For more information about Macquarie’s graduate program, please email the Graduate Recruitment team.
Our internship typically runs for 12 weeks from the end of November to February. There may be variations to this based on each business group and their individual requirements.
We seek well rounded individuals and therefore marks are not the only factor we consider. Generally, successful applicants have a credit average or higher, however we also take into consideration other factors such as work experience and extra curricular activities.
Outside of our formal summer internship program we don’t offer other opportunities for work experience.
