As one of the pioneers of corporate philanthropy in Australia, Macquarie has provided support to community programs since the 1970s. It does so in the simple belief that a company has a responsibility to work for the betterment of the communities in which it operates.
The Macquarie Group Foundation was formally established in 1985. Every year it commits resources to the core areas of education, arts, health, welfare and the environment. Within these areas, the Foundation looks for opportunities that are innovative, genuinely responsive to the community’s needs and that enable staff to contribute time and expertise, as well as financial support. The Foundation places a priority on supporting organisations where staff are personally involved.
Each year, we recognise outstanding staff contributions to the community through our Macquarie Staff Community Awards, with the winners receiving money to donate to the organisations they support.
The Foundation's activities reflect the drive, commitment and entrepreneurial spirit that characterises Macquarie.
