Not the time for bonds, Australian Financial Review Despite the recent sell-off in global bonds, not everyone believes the end of the bull run is over. Superannuation and tax experts urge older Australians and super funds to increase their exposure to bonds over shares to ensure that retirement savings are protected from future sharemarket crashes. Macquarie’s Head of Fixed Income and Currency, Brett Lewthwaite, said the call for superannuation funds was required. “The whole point of what Ken Henry is saying is that super funds are not very balanced any more, with their default options tending to be more tilted towards growth assets.” |
