About IFP

Independent Franchise Partners LLP (IFP) is an employee-owned, investment management firm established in June 2009. The firm specialises in a single investment strategy which aims to identify companies capable of compounding shareholder wealth at superior rates of return over the long-term. The strategy uses strict value and quality criteria to evaluate potential investments. The firm’s founding partners previously managed a similar investment strategy at Morgan Stanley Investment Management.

IFP’s investment process sees them focusing on companies that they believe demonstrate exceptional quality and value. Such companies will exhibit key strengths such as:

  • possession or control of dominant intangible assets (successful brands, patents, licenses, copyrights and distribution networks), which can be difficult for competitors to replicate;
  • financial strength and growth potential;
  • a reliable and recurring revenue stream;
  • high free cash flow generation; and
  • capable management.

The companies that the Manager invests in are usually found in sectors such as branded consumer goods (eg food, cosmetics, beverages), pharmaceuticals, media and advertising (eg publishing, broadcasting, information services) and franchised services (eg automotive, business services). The Manager typically invests in developed countries with a strong culture of public share-ownership.
