The venue of choice for the Macquarie Speed Sailing Team is Sandy Point, Victoria Australia. Situated only a short drive from the picturesque Wilson's Promontory, Shallow Inlet at Sandy Point offers sheltered waters and smooth south westerly winds.

Sandy Point is a comfortable 3-hour drive from Melbourne and is well equipped for the visitor with a caravan park, general store and even an internet café.

The inlet is separated from Bass Strait by a 1 km wide sand spit. This provides an ideal speed sailing venue with steady fresh winds and very flat seas. The inlet has a curved bank that allows multiple overlapping 500m courses to be set. This caters for variations in wind direction from 190 to 240 degrees.

The team workshop is based in a 40 foot shipping container situated on the beach and sailing action is usually based 2 hours either side of low tide when the forecast predicts 15 - 20 knot winds from the Southwest.
