Why you receive notifications

Macquarie uses multi-factor authentication as an extra layer of security that helps protect your accounts and the personal information with Macquarie.

Multi-factor authentication requires you to enter two pieces of information to confirm transactions and tasks – your password and one other piece of information that you can provide to verify yourself.

You’ll need to use multi-factor authentication to authorise all Macquarie Business Online transactions and some tasks. This could be done via:

  1. an actionable push notification we send to your Macquarie Authenticator app
  2. a code from your Macquarie Authenticator app.

What are actionable push notifications?

An actionable push notification is a banner that slides into view on your mobile device with a direct link to the Macquarie Authenticator app. You’ll see information about the account activity so you can feel confident to approve or decline.

You’ll need to have notifications switched on for actionable push notifications to work. You can find these in your device settings.

For information on how to approve multiple push notifications at once, refer to Manage your device notifications and alerts.

Didn’t receive a push notification?

In some cases, you may not be able to verify a transaction or activity with a push notification as you:

  1. can’t access the internet or have limited mobile reception
  2. haven’t enabled push notifications on your device.

If this happens, please check that you have notifications enabled for the app and try again by clicking on Resend verification.

If you still can’t receive a push notification try checking the Task tab in Macquarie Authenticator:

  1. Log in to Macquarie Authenticator
  2. Click Tasks on the bottom
  3. Click on the action awaiting your approval.

Verify another way

To verify another way:

  1. Click Verify another way on the verification panel that pops up when you’re approving a payment or task in Macquarie Business Online
  2. Click on Code
  3. Click Continue
  4. Enter the code that’s available from the Codes screen on your Macquarie Authenticator app
  5. Click Submit.

If you still can’t proceed, give us a call on 1800 620 673 (+61 2 8550 5603 if calling from overseas).

Received a push notification you don’t recognise?

If you get a push notification that you don’t recognise it could be due to:

  1. Clicking Resend verification and receiving a delayed push notification due to slow network connectivity
  2. A suspected fraudulent transaction.

If you received a push notification that’s suspected to be fraudulent, you should deny the action immediately to stop the task from completing. Please follow the below steps:

  1. Click Deny on the push notification to cancel the task from processing
  2. Log in to Macquarie Business Online
  3. Select the drop-down alongside your profile icon in the top right-hand corner
  4. Select Security
  5. Select Update Password
  6. Enter your new password
  7. Select Update
  8. Follow the prompts to verify the change using your Macquarie Authenticator app or via SMS. This will log out all active sessions to prevent further fraudulent activity.

Once you’ve updated your password, please then call us on 1800 620 673 (+61 2 8550 5603 if calling from overseas), to report the suspected fraudulent transaction.
