What is the benefit of Macquarie's data feeds?

Macquarie’s data feeds provide a secure and efficient way to manage client data.

What are ESI credentials?

Your ESI (External Systems Interface) credentials are a unique code and password that allow you to share your clients' data with an integrated third-party provider of your choosing.

What client data is included in ESI data feeds?

Our ESI data feeds can pull your clients’ account, transaction and balance data from the following Macquarie products:

  • Macquarie Cash Management Account (CMA)
  • Macquarie Cash Management Accelerator Account (Accelerator)
  • Macquarie Term Deposit
  • Macquarie Wrap.

Important: It’s not possible to generate a data feed for a selected individual client or a specific subset of clients. When you provide your ESI credentials to a third-party application, it will receive data for all eligible accounts under your adviser profile.

Which third-party providers are supported?

Our ESI data feeds connect seamlessly with various third-party providers for:

Integrated accounting and SMSF administration software

  • BGL
  • Class
  • MYOB
  • Now Infinity
  • Supermate
  • Xero

Integrated financial planning software and other platforms

  • AchieveCorp
  • Adviser Logic
  • Agility Applications
  • DASH
  • Integrated Portfolio Solutions
  • DION Global Solutions
  • Finpal/Fin365
  • Exafluence
  • FNZ
  • HUB24
  • HeirWealth
  • Investment Link
  • Investum

How do I get set up with a supported platform?

  1. Integration: For a third-party platform to receive Macquarie data feeds, they must first be integrated with Macquarie. Integration is always to be initiated by the third-party platform themselves.
  2. Connection: Once the relevant third-party platform has established integration, please contact them directly for instructions on what’s required to complete the connection on their end.
  3. Activation: Once connected with a third-party platform, follow the steps below to generate ESI credentials and activate the feed.

How do I gain access to ESI credentials?

For Adviser Online users (advisers or support staff) looking to generate ESI credentials across either Wrap or Cash products, please follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Adviser Online
  2. Select the user profile icon from the right-hand side of the top menu
  3. Select ESI details
  4. Select Generate new code
  5. On your mobile device, open the Macquarie Authenticator push notification
  6. Review the details
  7. Select Approve.

Can I share ESI data feeds with other third parties, like accountants?

Yes. Third parties, such as lawyers and accountants who need to interact with client data, can also be given access to ESI data feeds. Set up is dependent on the software and its integration with ESI for Macquarie feeds. We recommend that authorised third parties reach out to the relevant software provider for more information on how this can be done.

Access to these data feeds must be approved by the client.

How do Wrap third party users gain access to ESI credentials?

For Wrap, the process for third parties like accountants or administrators to generate ESI credentials is as follows:

  1. Log into Wrap TPA
  2. Ensure the ESI tab is selected on the side navigation
  3. Select Generate new code
  4. On your mobile device, open the Macquarie Authenticator push notification
  5. Review the details
  6. Select Approve.

Why are my ESI credentials blocked?

To ensure the security of your account, your ESI credentials may be blocked for several reasons, including:

New credentials generated

When new ESI details are generated, they’re activated and ready for use immediately. For your security, any older credentials will be deactivated at the same time. To ensure a seamless connection and continued access to data, please update your systems and any third-party platforms with the new credentials.

Expired credentials

ESI credentials have a one-year lifecycle and automatically expire. If the ESI details have expired (see how to check the status), a connection block will occur with your third-party provider. To resolve this, generate a new key in either Adviser Online or the Wrap TPA portal and update it in your third-party software.

Incorrect credential entry

For security purposes, your ESI credentials will be automatically blocked after four unsuccessful login attempts. If your credentials become blocked due to incorrect entry, please reach out to your third-party software to work with Macquarie to unblock. Alternatively you can contact us via chat for assistance.

How can I unblock my ESI credentials?

If you’ve verified the ESI credentials are valid and correctly implemented and they’re still blocked, the cause may lie with the third-party platform. For all issues related to the external software itself, including being locked out of your account, you’ll need to contact your third-party software provider directly for support.

If your account has been blocked specifically due to four incorrect login attempts, you can also contact us via chat for help with unblocking your credentials.

What if my data feed is unresponsive?

An unresponsive data feed is usually caused by expired ESI details. To check the status of your ESI access:

  1. Log in to Adviser Online
  2. Select your profile icon from the right-hand side of the top menu
  3. Select ESI details.

You'll see the current ESI details status, expiry date, and the date your current code was requested.

What is the difference between ESI and Open Banking?

ESI credentials and data feeds are one way to share your clients' data with third-party software providers.

If you're looking for information about sharing data through the Consumer Data Right (CDR) framework, including how to manage data sharing permissions, supported products, and who is eligible, visit our Open Banking help centre article here.
