What's an Access Seeker Credit Report?

Access Seeker Credit Report is an easy-to-use tool in ApplyOnline. It supports you to improve data quality in your applications, enabling us to approve applications faster and reduce the need for additional information required from you or your customer.

When requested for your customer, Access Seeker:

  • will generate an Equifax One Score report
  • can pre-populate and compare the liabilities on the report against the application data
  • is free of charge to you and your customer, and
  • won’t record a credit enquiry against your customer’s credit history, therefore not impacting their credit score.

Why should I use Access Seeker when submitting a home loan application?

Reviewing a credit report prior to submitting a home loan application for your customer can help you and your customer achieve a faster decision from our team.

Benefits to using Access Seeker include:

  • having visibility of the same type of credit report our team will use to assess the application, the Equifax One Score report
  • confirming all current liabilities including their limits and institutions, which will help you accurately assess serviceability
  • improving data quality using the liabilities checking tool, ensuring you’ve included all information required by our team, and
  • reducing the likelihood that our team need further information to assess your customer’s application.

What applicant types can use Access Seeker?

An Access Seeker can be used for all applicant types, including:

  • Individuals
  • Directors of company loans
  • Individual(s) as trustee for Trusts.

Once the applicant’s Access Seeker Credit Report has been requested, you can open the credit report by selecting View on the ‘Applicant’ tab (within the Financial Passport).

Once opened, you’ll be able to view three tabs:

  1. Credit Report
  2. Credit Summary, and
  3. Verification

Credit Report: Equifax One Score

For each applicant, you’ll be able to view the full Equifax One Score credit report. For our credit assessment, we’ll also request a separate Equifax One Score credit report for each applicant, so you can have confidence you’re viewing the most up to date version of the applicant’s credit file.

See Understanding customer credit checks for more information on how to read an Equifax One Score credit report.

Credit Summary

The ‘Credit Summary’ tab provides a summarised version of the information available in the credit report.

Verification

The ‘Verification’ tab provides an interactive tool to make it easier for you to confirm and verify the liabilities to be included in the application. Here you can complete the liabilities matching process.

How can I use liabilities matching with Access Seeker in ApplyOnline?

Liabilities matching is the process of verifying the liabilities noted on the credit report with the application. Completing this step ensures that when we receive the application, the data is accurate.

The liabilities matching process starts in the ‘Verification’ tab on Access Seeker and is completed on the ‘Financialstab in ApplyOnline. It requires:

Reviewing and adding liabilities on Access Seeker

  1. On the Verification tab, all open liabilities on the applicant’s credit report will be listed under the ‘Financial Passport’ column, including:
    • Liability type (e.g. home loan)
    • Creditor name (e.g. Macquarie Bank)
    • Account BSB and account number
    • Limit (e.g. $450,000)
    • Loan term expiry (e.g. 30/3/2050)
  2. Review the list from the credit report and select the liabilities that need to be included in the assessment of the application
  3. Once selected, click Accept suggested updates
  4. A pop-up window will appear, asking you to confirm that you want to proceed with the following for the liabilities selected:
    • Where the liability already existed on the application, it’ll be overridden/updated with the credit report’s data, or
    • If the liability didn’t exist on the application, it’ll be added to the ‘Financials’ tab for further review.
  5. To implement changes, select Accept suggested updates again. In the table, you’ll now see the updated information in the ‘Application’ column and a green ‘verified’ badge will appear.

Confirming liabilities data in ApplyOnline

Once you’ve confirmed the liabilities in the prior step, the ‘Financials’ tab will be pre-populated with the data. In the ‘Liabilities’ table, you’ll see a green ‘verified’ badge. This confirms that liability’s data matches the credit report. Where ‘Suggestion’ is noted, you’ll need to take further action.

Verified liabilities

You’ll need to add data to each liability, as per usual processes. This may include current balance, repayment amount and frequency. If you make changes to key information (e.g. the credit limit), the ‘verified’ badge will be removed as it no longer matches the credit report data. You’ll need to provide further explanation in the broker notes why the application doesn’t match the report (e.g. the limit of the credit card will be reduced as part of this application).

‘Suggestion’ liabilities

In the ‘Liabilities’ table, if a liability exists on the credit report that hasn’t been verified by you, it will appear as a ‘Suggestion’. This may occur if:

  • you’ve missed selecting the liability initially
  • your customer has closed a facility, but it hasn’t been updated on their credit report, or
  • your customer intends to close the facility at settlement, so you didn’t initially include it.

Noting edits and changes from the credit report

If you choose not to include liabilities noted on the credit report in the application or change details of a liability (e.g. the credit limit), ensure you provide either additional documentation (e.g. a letter confirming a facility has been closed) or further detail in the broker notes.

Completing this step, typically will allow us to assess the application without following up for further information.

Why isn’t the Access Seeker report working for my customer’s application?

Once you select ‘Get Started’ to start Access Seeker, you’ll be provided statuses on the progress of retrieving the report:

  • Weak match: Unable to match record with the applicant’s details. Check the details you’ve entered in application including DOB, middle name and driver’s licence. Once you’ve checked data, select ‘Retry’ to run the request again.
  • No existing file found: This indicates that no previous credit enquiries have been made for the applicant. An Access Seeker will only be able to retrieve once a lender has made an enquiry.
  • Error occurred: Retry after a few minutes. If the issue persists, contact your aggregator help desk.
  • File ban: This may appear if an applicant has requested a ban on the disclosure of their credit information. They may do this if they believe on reasonable grounds that they have been or are likely to be a victim of fraud. In this instance, an Access Seeker Credit Report isn’t possible, although the application can still be submitted.

Why can’t I select the applicant to run an Access Seeker report?

Once you select ‘Get Started’, a pop-up window will appear where you need to agree to the conditions of use. If you haven’t entered sufficient data for the applicant (e.g. date of birth or full name), a validation will appear alerting you to provide specific data.

See Requesting an Access Seeker Credit Report to check you’ve entered all required data fields.

Why can’t I see Access Seeker in the Financial Passport in ApplyOnline?

If you’re unable to see the tile for Access Seeker in the Financial Passport (next to the NextGenID tile), this may be due to you not using your aggregator’s platform to lodge the application. If this occurs, please contact your aggregator help desk.
