Who can update my client’s contact details?

There are some contact details you can update on behalf of your client, and others your client will need to update themselves.

How do I update my client’s details?

Update client’s name

Please refer to Viewing or updating your details in Personal Help Centre to understand the required documentation. You can then upload this documentation to Request Centre.

Update client’s TFN

You can update a Tax File Number (TFN) for your client directly via Adviser Online. Please note you can’t update a TFN associated with a pension account. 

You can also use the below method to provide a TFN exemption for your client. 

  1. Log in to Adviser Online
  2. From the global search bar, select Accounts from the drop-down
  3. Search for the account name or number
  4. Select Update next to TFN on the Account Details tab
  5. Update the Tax File Number or provide the TFN exemption.
  6. Confirm the change is correct and you have the client’s consent
  7. Select Submit
  8. Once you send your request, you’ll be provided with a request ID number and have the option to save or print your request receipt by selecting Print receipt.

Update client’s ABN or ACN

You can update an Australian Business Number (ABN) and/or an Australian Company Number (ACN) for your client directly via Adviser Online. 

  1. Log in to Adviser Online
  2. From the global search bar, select Clients from the drop-down menu
  3. Search for your client’s name
  4. Select the pen next to Company details under the Details section to the right of the screen
  5. Update the ABN and/or the ACN
  6. Confirm the change is correct and you have the client’s consent
  7. Select Submit
  8. Once you’ve sent your request, you’ll be provided with a request ID number and have the option to save or print your request receipt by selecting Print receipt.
