Browser notifications

Browser notifications are messages that are displayed on your computer or device even when you’re not logged into Macquarie Online Banking. These notifications help keep track of important activity on your Macquarie accounts.

They're available if you have the following products:

  • Macquarie Home Loans
  • Macquarie Car Loan
  • Transaction, savings and offset accounts
  • Macquarie Business Savings
  • Macquarie Black Card
  • Macquarie Platinum Card
  • Macquarie RateSaver Card.

Customise browser notifications within Macquarie Online Banking

You can select which accounts, transaction types and channels you'd like to receive notifications for, and also set a minimum dollar value.

To customise browser notifications in Macquarie Online Banking:

  1. Click on the menu icon in top left-hand corner to display the side menu
  2. Select the settings icon
  3. Select Notifications settings
  4. To enable/disable notifications for the specific account, toggle on or off Allow notifications
  5. You can also customise your notification types for a specific account by clicking Manage on that account and toggling on or off Allow notifications for each of the Notification types to receive or stop receiving all notifications for that type and account
  6. Alternatively, you can select Manage on a notification type which is turned on and specify which channels you no longer want to receive notifications on by toggling off the corresponding channel
  7. To set the amount threshold for specific notifications, enter amount under Just notify me when over a specific amount. Tap Apply amount to all accounts to set same threshold for all the accounts.

You can also opt in to receive push notifications on your mobile device. If you'd like to receive notifications only on your mobile device, you'll need to block the browser notifications. Please follow the steps above to disable your browser notifications.

Tip: you can update your notification preferences online either via Macquarie Online Banking or the Macquarie Mobile Banking app.

Who can see browser notifications

When you opt in to receive notifications on the browser of your desktop device, anyone using or viewing your screen will see the notifications in the top right corner of the screen. For this reason, we recommend that you don’t turn on notifications on a public or shared computer. For example, if you're using a computer or tablet at a café or library, we recommend that you do not turn on notifications for that device.

Think carefully about whether you're comfortable to have browser notifications appearing on your work or home computer in context of who has visibility of your screen.

Joint account holders

If you turn on browser notifications, any transactions made by a joint account holder will also be visible in your notifications (and vice versa).
