What’s the difference between transaction categories and tags?

We automatically group your transactions into categories, so you can easily view your spending by category and by merchant. 

Tags are more specific and can be customised by you. For example, you can create tags to track all purchases related to your holiday, your wedding or your renovations.

You can manage both your categories and tags in Macquarie Mobile Banking or the Macquarie Mobile Banking app.

How do I change transaction categories in Macquarie Online Banking?

  1. Select your account from the Account list
  2. Select the relevant transaction to bring up the transaction details
  3. Amend the Category using the Category selection drop down list
  4. Select Apply if you want to apply the same category to all new transactions and then select Confirm to apply the changes.

You can also change the category on the Optional details screen while making a payment.

How do I change transaction categories in the Macquarie Mobile Banking app?

  1. Select an account from the Account list
  2. Select the relevant transaction to bring up the transaction details
  3. Inside the Category feature, select on the pencil icon to edit the category
  4. Select Apply if you want to apply the same category to all new transactions and then select Confirm to apply the changes.

You can also change the category on the Enter details screen while making a payment.
 

What are tags for my transactions?

You can use tags to categorise your transactions and to track your spending more effectively. You can assign tags to transactions such as 'groceries', 'shopping', 'travel' and so on.

How do I tag my transactions in Macquarie Online Banking?

  1. Select your account from the Account list
  2. Select the relevant transaction to bring up the transaction details
  3. Select inside the Tags feature to add or change a tag.

You can also add tags on the Optional details screen while making a payment.

  1. Select an account from the Account list
  2. Select the relevant transaction to bring up the transaction details

How do I delete my tags in Macquarie Online Banking?

  1. Select your account from the Account list
  2. Select the relevant transaction to bring up the transaction details
  3. Select Manage located above the Tags field
  4. Select up to 50 tags you want to delete
  5. Select Delete
  6. Tags will be deleted only from the tag library and not from existing transactions that have been tagged. 

How do I delete my tags in the Macquarie Mobile Banking app?

  1. Select an account from the Account list
  2. Select the relevant transaction to bring up the transaction details
  3. Inside the Tags feature, select the pencil icon
  4. Select the Manage button on the top-right
  5. Select up to 50 tags you want to delete
  6. Select the Delete button
  7. If you’d like to delete one tag, swipe the tag to the left
  8. Tags will be deleted only from the tag library and not from existing transactions that have been tagged. 

Can I edit multiple transaction details at once?

You can edit categories, tags, notes and attachments of multiple transactions, both historic bank account transactions and transactions returned in a search. You can do this in Macquarie Online Banking or the Macquarie Mobile Banking app.

How do I edit multiple transaction details in the Macquarie Online Banking?

  1. Select your account from the Account list to view historic account transactions or search for a combination of transactions
  2. Hover your mouse over the transactions you wish to select and tick a checkbox on the left of each transaction. You can select up to 100 transactions
  3. Select the Edit button on the action bar at the bottom of the screen
  4. Amend transactions details and confirm changes by selecting the Submit button. 

How do I edit multiple transaction details in Macquarie Mobile Banking app?

  1. Select your account from the Account list to view historic account transactions or search for a combination of transactions
  2. Select the round icon on the left of the transaction
  3. Tick a checkbox on the left of each transaction you wish to select. You can select up to 100 transactions
  4. Select the Edit button on the action bar at the bottom of the screen
  5. Amend transactions details and confirm changes by selecting the Submit button.

How do I change my category, tags or flags for future transactions?

You can change the category, tags or flags that are automatically assigned to future payments made, and transfers received.

In Macquarie Online Banking or in the Macquarie Mobile Banking app, toggle on Apply above to all when making a payment or when viewing the details of a transaction. These changes will apply to all future payments made to the same account, merchant or biller, or to all future transfers received from the same account.

Toggling on Apply above to all will not update past transactions. This can be done by searching for and editing multiple transactions.

Apply above to all is not available for all transaction types.
