What’s an additional cardholder?

An additional cardholder is any person the primary cardholder authorises to make transactions on their credit card account and can only be added to the account by the primary cardholder.

The additional cardholder will be issued with their own card, and all transactions will be charged to the primary cardholder’s account.

Please note:

  • there are no extra fees for adding an additional cardholder
  • the primary cardholder is responsible for all transactions made by the additional cardholder
  • the additional cardholder will be issued with their own card, which will be sent to the primary cardholder's mailing address.

Who can be an additional cardholder?

Before a primary cardholder can apply for an additional cardholder to be added to their account, the additional cardholder must:

  • be an existing Macquarie customer with an active Macquarie ID, and
  • meet the minimum age requirement of 16 years old.

The additional cardholder cannot be the same person as the primary cardholder, or an existing additional cardholder on the credit card account.

How do I apply for an additional cardholder?

For existing Macquarie customers who already have an open credit card account with us, the primary cardholder can apply for an additional cardholder by following these steps:

  1. Complete the Additional Cardholder Request form
  2. Submit the form to macquariecards@macquarie.com from the email linked in the primary cardholder's account.

For new credit card customers, make sure you complete the 'Additional cardholder' section of your credit card application when applying for your card.

How long will it take to receive the additional cardholder's card?

After we confirm your request has been completed, we’ll post the card to the primary cardholder’s mailing address. It may take 5-10 business days for the card to arrive.

The primary cardholder’s card needs to be activated before the additional cardholder can activate their card.

What if I need to replace the additional cardholder's card?

The primary cardholder will need to request the new card on behalf of the additional cardholder by following these steps:

  1. Complete the Card Replacement form, and
  2. Submit the form to macquariecards@macquarie.com from the email linked to the primary cardholder’s account.

The additional cardholder can’t request their own replacement card.

How do I cancel the additional cardholder's card?

The additional cardholder or primary cardholder can contact us at any time via chat to cancel the additional cardholder's card.
