Contactless Transport Payments (CTP) fares are based on the distance you travel, from where you tap on to where you tap off.

After you tap on with your Macquarie debit or credit card, a pre-authorisation of one dollar may appear as a pending transaction on your account. You can view this transaction via Macquarie Online Banking or the Macquarie Mobile Banking app.

When the transaction settles, the cost of the trip will replace the pre-authorisation. The description will appear as ‘TransportforNSW Tap’ or ‘TransportforNSW travel Sydney’. The date the payment appears may also vary from the actual travel date depending on transaction processing time.

If a card is declined because you had insufficient funds to cover the fare, Transport for NSW will automatically try to recover the fare from the card every three days. This means the payment date might be up to nine days apart from the actual travel date.
