Woolworths Credit Cards are moving to Macquarie Credit Cards

Macquarie has been the issuer of Woolworths credit cards, including your card, for the past eight years. After careful consideration we've decided to move Woolworths credit card customers to a Macquarie branded credit card account, as Macquarie will no longer be offering Woolworths branded credit cards. On the move date outlined in your most recent reminder communication from Macquarie, your existing Woolworths credit card account, will move to a Macquarie Platinum credit card account earning Macquarie Rewards on eligible purchases.

Keeping in touch with you

We’ve outlined below the key dates and next steps you can expect.

  • In March 2023, we sent you a communication by email or letter informing you that:
    • Macquarie Bank (the issuer of Woolworths credit cards) made the decision to no longer offer Woolworths credit cards.
    • Your Woolworths credit card account is moving to a Macquarie Platinum credit card account.
  • From late May to mid-June 2023, you’ll receive a follow-up communication by either email or letter with the specific date your account will be moving to a Macquarie credit card account, at least 30 days prior to the move (reminder communication). Your move date will be unique to you, and we will be unable to move your account earlier than this date.
  • From June to August 2023, your Woolworths credit card account will move to a Macquarie Platinum credit card account, and we’ll issue you and any active additional cardholder with a new Macquarie Platinum Visa credit card. Please note that, if your card is blocked for use on the account move date, in certain circumstances you will not receive a new Macquarie card.

I do not agree with moving to a Macquarie credit card account

If you do not wish to move to a Macquarie credit card account, please pay your outstanding balance and close your Woolworths credit card account by 21 June 2023.

If your account remains open by this date, it will automatically move to a Macquarie credit card account.

Closing your Woolworths credit card account

Prior to closing your account, please pay your outstanding balance and ensure any direct debits have been redirected.

To close your account via the Woolworths Credit Card Online portal:

  • Log in at login.woolworthsmoney.com.au
  • Click on your credit card account.
  • Select 'account details' at the top of the screen.
  • Select 'close account' and follow the prompts.

Your Woolworths credit card

On your move date outlined in your reminder communication from us, your Woolworths Credit Card account will move to a Macquarie Platinum Credit Card account. On this date, you’ll also begin earning Macquarie Rewards points on eligible purchases.

Your Woolworths credit card will stop working

Your Woolworths credit card will stop working on the date outlined in your reminder communication, or when you activate and first use your new Macquarie credit card, whichever comes earlier.

My existing Woolworths credit card has recently been blocked for use

In certain circumstances, if your card is blocked for use on the move date, you will not receive a new Macquarie credit card in the mail.

For example, you will not receive a new Macquarie credit card if:

  • Your account is more than 29 days in arrears.
  • Your credit card account has gone over the credit limit.
  • You have recently applied for or entered into financial hardship arrangement.

Annual fee

Your annual fee will be charged on the same anniversary date.

Your annual fee will not increase as part of your move. Details of your annual fee will be included in your welcome pack that you will receive approximately 3 weeks from your move date.

Repayments

On the date your account moves to a Macquarie credit card account (outlined in your reminder communication), you can continue to make BPAY repayments towards your new Macquarie account using the same Woolworths credit card biller and reference number 60 days from your move date.

Your new Macquarie BPAY repayment details will be outlined in your first Macquarie credit card statement. Once you receive your Macquarie statement, you can use the biller and reference number provided for repayments.

Existing balance transfer

Your existing balance transfer will continue on its existing rate and term, and you won’t need to do anything.

You won’t be able to move to a Macquarie credit card before your allocated date

On the date outlined in your reminder communication, your Woolworths Credit Card account will move to a Macquarie Credit Card account.

We are unable to move your current Woolworths credit card account to a Macquarie Credit Card account earlier than this date.

Qantas Points on my Woolworths Qantas Platinum credit card account

If you have a Woolworths Qantas Platinum credit card, any accrued Qantas Points remaining on your account on the date your account is moved to a Macquarie credit card account, will be automatically transferred to your Qantas Frequent Flyer (QFF) account. You don’t have to do anything.

This transfer of points will occur within 40 days of your move date.

Woolworths credit card points on my Woolworths Everyday Credit Card or Woolworths Everyday Platinum Credit Card account

If you have a Woolworths Everyday Credit Card or a Woolworths Everyday Platinum Credit Card, any accrued credit card points remaining on your account on the date your account is moved to a Macquarie credit card account, will automatically be converted into a Woolworths eGift Shopping card and sent to the email address we have on file for your account. Allow up to 30 business days after your account has been moved to a Macquarie account, to receive your Woolworths eGift shopping card via email.

Macquarie no longer offers Macquarie credit cards with Qantas Points

Macquarie no longer offers any credit card products which earn Qantas Points, which means you cannot move to the Qantas Rewards program on your Macquarie Credit Card account. You can continue to earn Qantas Points up until the date your account is moved to a Macquarie credit card account.

Rewards points on my Woolworths credit card account

On the date outlined in your reminder communication, you’ll move to a Macquarie Credit Card account, and you’ll begin to earn Macquarie Rewards on your eligible spend. For more information on the points earn rate on your Macquarie card, see here.

Qantas Frequent Flyer membership

Your existing Qantas Frequent Flyer (QFF) membership and QFF account will not change as a result of your Woolworths credit card account moving to a Macquarie Credit Card account.

My existing Consumer Data Right consent arrangements that I have in place on my Woolworths credit card account

As Macquarie is no longer the issuer of Woolworths credit cards, the Woolworths brand will be removed from the ACCC CDR Register on 15 November 2023.

When this happens, any active data sharing arrangements that you have in place (for your Woolworths credit card) with your chosen Accredited Data Recipient (ADR) will be impacted in the following way:

  • The ADR will no longer be able to collect your consumer data.
  • However, until the use consent either expires or is withdrawn by you, the ADR will have the right to continue to use your consumer data they have previously collected.

If you’d like to share your consumer data with an ADR for your rebranded Macquarie credit card, you’ll need to establish a new data sharing arrangement with the ADR by following the same steps you previously followed to set up the consent arrangement.

Woolworths Everyday Rewards

There will be no changes to your Everyday Rewards account, and you can continue to collect Everyday Rewards points by scanning your Everyday Rewards barcode or your digital card in the Everyday Rewards app. See the Everyday Rewards terms and conditions for more information.

Get an Everyday Rewards card

If you would like a Woolworths Everyday Rewards Card, you can order it online by following these instructions:

  1. Log in to your account (if you are unable to login to your account, see instructions below)
  2. Select 'My Account' in the top right corner, then 'Cards & accounts'
  3. Scroll to 'Order a new card'
  4. Select your Everyday Rewards Card number and the reason for replacement
  5. Follow the prompts.

Please allow 7-10 business days for your replacement card to arrive. Please ensure your contact details are up to date, including correct mailing address by logging into Woolworths credit card online at login.woolworthsmoney.com.au. If it hasn't arrived after this time, please contact us.

If you wish to add your Everyday Rewards Card directly to your phone through your digital wallet or the Everyday Rewards app, you can do so by:

  • Download the Everyday Rewards app
  • Add your Everyday Rewards Card to Apple Wallet
  • Add your Everyday Rewards Card to Google Pay

If you add your Everyday Rewards Card to your digital wallet or to the Everyday Rewards app, you can continue collecting Everyday Rewards immediately.

Woolworths credit card benefits

10% off grocery shop once a month

Up until 30 September 2023, you’ll have access to the 10% off your grocery shop once a month at Woolworths Supermarket by using the same Everyday Rewards Number which is printed on the back of your Woolworths credit card. Terms and Conditions apply.

Repaying your credit card in-store at Woolworths

From 1 August 2023, you’ll no longer be able to repay your Woolworths credit card in-store at Woolworths Supermarkets or Big W.

Once you’ve received and activated your new Macquarie Platinum Credit Card, you’ll be able to make repayments via EFTPOS and cheque at Australia Post. For further details on ways to repay your credit card account, refer to your Macquarie credit card statements.

Woolworths insurances discounts

From 1 September 2023, you’ll no longer be able to receive discounts on Everyday car, home, or pet insurance policies as a Woolworths credit card holder.

Travel insurance

If your Woolworths credit card account includes travel insurance, you’ll be covered by your existing Woolworths insurance policy until you activate your new Macquarie card. Upon activation, you’ll be transferred to the Macquarie Platinum Travel Insurance Policy.

If your Woolworths credit card account does not include travel insurance, you’ll automatically be covered by the Macquarie Platinum Card Travel Insurance Policy.

Card Repayment Insurance

If you have Card Repayment Insurance on your Woolworths credit card account, you’ll continue to be covered on the same policy, and you won’t need to do anything.

Before your move date and what does this mean for you

You’ll receive a reminder communication by either email or letter with the specific date your account will be moving to a Macquarie credit card account, at least 30 days prior to the move.

  • If you do not wish to move to a Macquarie credit card account, please pay your outstanding balance, and close your Woolworths credit account by 21 June 2023. If your account remains open by this date it will automatically move to a Macquarie credit card account.
  • Please check that your contact details are up to date as your new Macquarie credit card account will be issued to your address on file. You can update your mailing address via Woolworths credit card online.
  • Your annual fee will continue to be charged on the same anniversary date once you have been moved to a Macquarie Visa credit card account. This fee will not increase as part of your move. Details of your annual fee will be included in your welcome pack that you will receive approximately 3 weeks from your move date.

After your move date and what does this mean for you

What to expect on your move date: 

Credit Card Rewards program

Your Woolworths credit card rewards program or Qantas Points rewards program will end, and you’ll begin earning Macquarie Rewards on eligible purchases, even if you continue to use your Woolworths credit card.

Woolworths Everyday Rewards

There will be no changes to your Everyday Rewards account, and you can continue to collect Everyday Rewards points.

Woolworths Credit Card Benefit - 10% Off Your Groceries

Up until 30 September 2023, you’ll have access to the 10% off your grocery shop once a month at Woolworths Supermarket by using the same Everyday Rewards Number which is printed on the back of your Woolworths credit card. Terms and Conditions apply.

Online and Mobile Banking

You’ll be able to access your new account via Macquarie Online Banking and your Woolworths credit card online portal access will no longer be available. You can use your existing Woolworths Login ID and password to log in to Macquarie Online Banking. When you log in to Macquarie Online Banking for the first time, you accept the Macquarie Electronic Banking Terms and Conditions.

Your Woolworths credit card will no longer be available on the Woolworths Money app. You’ll be able to access your credit card account via Macquarie Mobile Banking app.

Repayments

You can continue to make BPAY repayments towards your new Macquarie account using the same Woolworths credit card biller and reference number.

Any existing direct debit arrangements to pay your Woolworths credit card account balance, will automatically apply to pay your new Macquarie credit card account.

From 1 August 2023, you’ll no longer be able to make a repayment to your Woolworths credit card in-store at Woolworths Supermarkets or BIG W.

Travel Insurance

If your Woolworths credit card account includes travel insurance, you’ll be covered by your existing Woolworths insurance policy until you activate your new Macquarie card. Upon activation, you’ll be transferred to the Macquarie Platinum Travel Insurance Policy.

If your Woolworths credit card account does not include travel insurance, you’ll automatically be covered by the Macquarie Platinum Card Travel Insurance Policy.

Terms and conditions

The Macquarie Conditions of Use will replace your existing Woolworths Conditions of Use.

Macquarie Online Banking

How to log in to Macquarie Online Banking

To view your Macquarie credit card account online, you’ll be able to access your account via Macquarie Online Banking or by downloading the Macquarie Mobile Banking app. If you experience any delays in accessing your accounts online once your account has moved to a Macquarie credit card, you can continue to make purchases on your Woolworths credit card, and you’ll begin earning Macquarie Rewards on eligible purchases.

To log in, you can continue to use your existing Woolworths login details. Your Woolworths Login ID will be your new Macquarie ID and you can use your existing password to access both the Macquarie Online Banking and Macquarie Mobile Banking app.

When you log in to Macquarie Online Banking for the first time, you accept the Macquarie Electronic Banking Terms and Conditions.

My Macquarie ID

Your Woolworths Login ID will be your new Macquarie ID. If you have a registered username, you can also enter your username as your Macquarie ID.

I have forgotten my Woolworths Login ID or password

If you have forgotten your Woolworths Login ID or password, click the ‘Forgot log in details?’ link on the login portal and follow the prompts to update your details.

You can access your account via Macquarie Online Banking or by downloading the Macquarie Mobile Banking app.

Accessing the Macquarie Mobile Banking app

You can download the Macquarie Mobile Banking app by searching ‘Macquarie Mobile Banking’ in the Apple Store or Google Play Store.

Macquarie Authenticator

Macquarie Authenticator is Macquarie’s most secure verification method. It’s a mobile app that sends you actionable push notifications instead of SMS when you’re prompted to verify certain transactions and account changes when using both Macquarie Online Banking and the Macquarie Mobile Banking app.

The Macquarie Authenticator app is available for Apple iOS and Android devices and is free to download from your app store – just search for Macquarie Authenticator. Once you’ve downloaded the app, follow the on-screen prompts to link your Macquarie ID.

I am unable to log into Macquarie Online Banking on the date my account was supposed to move to Macquarie

If you are unable to log into Macquarie Online Banking within 48 hours from your move date, this means that your move is not yet complete. Please allow up to 5 business days from the move date for the move to be completed. If you experience any delays in accessing your accounts online once your account has moved to a Macquarie credit card, you can continue to make purchases on your Woolworths credit card, and you’ll begin earning Macquarie Rewards on eligible purchases.

Please continue to try logging into Macquarie Online Banking. You’ll know the move is complete when you’re able to successfully login and your new Macquarie credit card account appears on your dashboard.

I can’t see my new Macquarie credit card account when I log into Macquarie Online Banking on the date my account was supposed to move to Macquarie

If you cannot see your new Macquarie credit card account on Macquarie Online Banking, this means your move is not yet completed. Please allow up to 5 business days for the move to complete. If you experience any delays in accessing your accounts online once your account has moved to a Macquarie credit card, you can continue to make purchases on your Woolworths credit card, and you’ll begin earning Macquarie Rewards on eligible purchases.

Please continue to try logging in until you see your new Macquarie credit account appear on your dashboard.

I can see a Woolworths credit card and a Macquarie credit card on Macquarie Online Banking

If you can see both your old Woolworths credit card account and your new Macquarie credit card account when you log in to Macquarie Online Banking, your Woolworths account may not have completed its move to a Macquarie credit card account. Please disregard your new and old accounts and log out of online banking. Please allow 48 hours and try logging in again. You’ll know the move is complete when you’re able to successfully login and only your new Macquarie credit card account appears on your dashboard.

I can’t log into Macquarie Online Banking using my Woolworths Login ID and password

If you can’t log into Macquarie Online Banking for the first time using your username and password, please try using your Macquarie Access Code (MAC) and password.

If you don’t know what your MAC is, please click ‘Forgot log in details?’ and follow the prompts to retrieve your MAC to your email address.

Your new Macquarie credit card

Receiving my new Macquarie credit card

You will receive your new Macquarie Credit Card approximately within 3 weeks from your move date, as outlined in your follow up communication.

The address my new credit card will be sent to

Your new Macquarie credit card, as well as your additional cardholder’s credit card if applicable, will arrive in the mail at your current mailing address on file.

Please ensure your credit card account contact details are up to date, including correct email and mailing addresses by logging into Woolworths credit card online at login.woolworthsmoney.com.au.

I have not received my new Macquarie credit card in the mail

You will receive your new Macquarie Credit Card approximately within 3 weeks from your move date, as outlined in your reminder communication.

If you do not receive your new Macquarie credit card within this timeframe, please send an email to  woolworths@cardserve.com.au to request a replacement Macquarie credit card be issued to you.

Please ensure your mailing address is up to date on Macquarie Online Banking before requesting a new card be issued to you.

Direct debits and recurring payments

You’ll need to setup a new direct debit arrangement from the date you activate your new Macquarie Credit Card. This includes any direct debit arrangements you currently use to pay bills, utilities etc.

If you have a recurring payment arrangement to automatically pay your monthly Woolworths credit card account balance, you won’t need to update this, and we’ll move this across for you.

Annual fee

Your annual primary cardholder fee will not increase as part of your account move and will continue to be charged on the same anniversary date once you have been moved to a Macquarie Visa credit card account.

Repayments

You can continue to make BPAY repayments towards your new Macquarie account using the same Woolworths credit card biller and reference number.

Your new Macquarie BPAY repayment details will be outlined in your Macquarie credit card statements.

You will not be able to make repayments to your new Macquarie credit card account instore at Woolworths Supermarkets or BIG W stores.

Your new Macquarie Platinum Credit Card

Being a new Macquarie Visa credit card customer means you’ll get to enjoy the following benefits:

  • Make payments with Apple Pay and Google Pay.
  • $0 international purchase fees when you shop overseas or online from international retailers. Receive the Visa exchange rate with no additional fee.
  • Overseas Travel Insurance for you, your spouse and any dependent children, Extended Warranty Insurance on your purchases and Interstate Flight Inconvenience Insurance.

Changing my rewards program

Macquarie Rewards is the only rewards program offered with Macquarie rewards credit cards.

Included travel insurance

If your Woolworths Credit Card does not include travel insurance

Currently your Woolworths Credit Card account is not covered by Woolworths travel insurance. Once you’ve moved to a Macquarie Credit Card account, you’ll be covered by the Macquarie Platinum travel insurance policy at no additional cost to you.

If your Woolworths Credit Card includes travel insurance

What is happening to my travel insurance?

You’ll continue to be covered by your existing Woolworths travel insurance policy until you activate your new Macquarie Credit Card. Upon activation, your account will be transferred to the Macquarie Platinum Card insurance policy. By activating your new Macquarie credit card, you agree to the insurance policy transfer and to the Macquarie Platinum Card insurance terms and conditions.

This means for eligible insurable events that occur:

  • before you activate your Macquarie card, your claim will be assessed and processed under the Woolworths travel insurance policy in accordance with the Woolworths Qantas Platinum Credit Card Insurance Terms and Conditions; and
  • after you activate your Macquarie credit card, your claim will be assessed and processed under the Macquarie Card insurance policy in accordance with the Macquarie Platinum Card Insurance Terms and Conditions.

Account changes

Here’s how these changes are being made to your Woolworths credit card account.

Credit contract:

  • We’re varying your credit contract in the ways communicated in your letter/email and your existing Woolworths Card Conditions of Use will be replaced with the new Macquarie Card Conditions of Use.
  • This variation does not require your consent. For more information, please see the ‘Changes to these conditions’ section of your Woolworths Conditions of Use.

Rewards program:

  • As we’re no longer offering Woolworths credit cards, the Woolworths Credit Card Rewards Program will end from the date you’re moved to a Macquarie Credit Card account. For more information, please see the ‘Termination or suspension of the Woolworths Rewards Program’ section of your Rewards Program Terms and Conditions.
  • From the date a customers’ account is moved to a Macquarie Credit Card account from June 2023, Woolworths Everyday Credit Card and Woolworths Everyday Platinum Credit Card customers earning Woolworths credit card points will begin earning Macquarie Reward points on eligible purchases as we are substituting Woolworths credit card rewards program with the Macquarie Rewards Program. Woolworths Qantas Platinum Credit Card customers earning Qantas points on eligible purchases will begin earning Macquarie Reward points on eligible purchases as we’re substituting Woolworths rewards program with the Macquarie Rewards Program.

Travel insurance:

  • If your Woolworths credit card account includes travel insurance, you’ll be covered by your existing Woolworths insurance policy until you activate your new Macquarie card. Upon activation, you’ll be transferred to the Macquarie Platinum Travel Insurance Policy.
  • If your Woolworths credit card account does not include travel insurance, you’ll automatically be covered by the Macquarie Platinum Card Travel Insurance Policy on the move date specified in your reminder communication.

You agree to the Macquarie Rewards and Macquarie Platinum card insurance terms and conditions provided in your notice letter/email by:

  • continuing to use your Woolworths credit card from the date your account is moved to a Macquarie credit card account, and/or
  • activating your new Macquarie Platinum credit card.

If you don’t agree with these changes and don’t want to move to a Macquarie Credit Card account, you can opt out. To opt out, you’ll need to pay your outstanding balance and close your account by 21 June 2023. If your account remains open by this date it will automatically move to a Macquarie credit card account.
