Our debit card is linked to a Macquarie transaction account. You can open an account online in just 3 minutes if you:

  • are aged 12 years or older,
  • have a permanent Australian residential address, email and mobile number,
  • are an individual (single or joint application)

Once your account is open, simply add your digital card to Apple Pay or Google Pay to tap and pay right away.

Frequently asked questions

During your trip make sure to keep your card somewhere safe. We also suggest you take a backup card or have alternate access to funds in case your card is lost or stolen. 

If your debit card is lost, stolen or damaged, please notify us right away via Macquarie Online Banking or the Macquarie Mobile Banking app.

Once you’ve reported your card lost or stolen, your old physical card will be locked and you won’t be able to use it for transactions until you receive and activate your new card. 

If your old card has been added to your digital wallet, your new digital card will automatically be added to Apple Pay or Google Pay, and you can start using it straight away without waiting for your new card to arrive in the mail.

If you choose to make a purchase in a foreign currency, the amount will be converted into Australian dollars using the Mastercard FX Rate.

A purchase made in a foreign currency will have an approximate amount in Australian dollars displayed at time of purchase. This approximate amount will be displayed via Macquarie Online Banking and the Macquarie Mobile Banking app, whilst the transaction is awaiting settlement.

Once the transaction is finalised the transaction amount will be updated to reflect the final foreign exchange rate that has been applied.

In Macquarie Online Banking: 

  1. Log in to Macquarie Online Banking
  2. Select the Travel icon from the side menu; or first click on the menu icon in top left-hand corner to display the side menu.

In the Macquarie Mobile Banking app: 

  1. Log in to the Macquarie Mobile Banking app (using the latest version)
  2. Select the menu icon in the icon bar from the bottom right corner
  3. Select Travel.

We don’t charge any fees in connection with our transaction and savings account products but others, such as other financial institutions, may.


We will refund fees charged to you by domestic ATM operators in connection with domestic ATM transactions, but you’ll need to pay any other fee that you’re charged by any international ATM operator.
