  • The Macquarie Authenticator app provides an extra layer of security that helps protect your account and personal information and is our most secure way to authenticate.
  • It's a mobile app that sends actionable push notifications for you to approve or deny online transactions and account activity. There’s also an option to generate a unique one-time rolling code as an alternative authentication method.

Transaction notifications

  • Get the added security of real time notifications – opt in on your device.
  • Whenever you make a transaction on your Macquarie credit or debit card, you’ll receive a push notification, so you know the correct transaction has been processed either instore or online.
  • For foreign currency transactions, the alert shows the spend amount in local currency and Australian dollars.

  • When you log into the Macquarie Mobile Banking app at your overseas destination, the Travel Mode feature will reflect your location and the local exchange rate.

Frequently asked questions

A Macquarie ID is your unique eight-digit user ID for accessing Macquarie Online Banking and the Macquarie Mobile Banking app.

You can choose to set up a username to log into online and mobile banking instead of using your Macquarie ID. See Can I set up a username to use instead of my Macquarie ID?
Your Macquarie ID is a unique eight-digit number that, along with your password, enables you to log into Macquarie Online Banking and the Macquarie Mobile Banking app.

You can retrieve your Macquarie ID on Macquarie Online Banking or the Macquarie Mobile Banking app – you'll just need your last name, date of birth and registered email address handy.

Retrieving your Macquarie ID on Macquarie Online Banking:
 
  1. On macquarie.com/personal, select Log in
  2. Select Macquarie Online and then select Go
  3. Select Trouble logging in?
  4. Enter your last name, date of birth and registered email address. Select Submit
  5. If the details match our records, you’ll receive an email with the details of your Macquarie ID.

Retrieving your Macquarie ID on the Macquarie Mobile Banking app:
 
  1. Open the Macquarie Mobile Banking app
  2. Select Trouble logging in?
  3. Select Forgot your Macquarie ID
  4. Enter your last name, date of birth and registered email address. Select Submit
  5. If the details match our records, you’ll receive an email with the details of your Macquarie ID.
 
You can log in straight away with your retrieved Macquarie ID.

Your Macquarie ID and password enable you to log into Macquarie Online Banking and the Macquarie Mobile Banking app.
 
You can reset your password on Macquarie Online Banking or the Macquarie Mobile Banking app – you’ll just need your Macquarie ID and your mobile number that’s registered with us.
 
Changing your password on Macquarie Online Banking:
  1. On macquarie.com/personal, select Log in
  2. Select Macquarie Online and then select Go
  3. Select Forgotten password
  4. Enter your Macquarie ID and your mobile number. Select Submit
  5. You’ll receive a one-time SMS code on your mobile. Enter the code
  6. Create a new password.
 
Changing your password on the Macquarie Mobile Banking app:
  1. Open the Macquarie Mobile Banking app
  2. Select Trouble logging in?
  3. Select Forgot your password
  4. Enter your Macquarie ID and your mobile number. Select Submit
  5. You’ll receive a one-time SMS code on your mobile. Enter the code
  6. Create a new password.
You can use your new password straight away.

Your Macquarie ID will be locked if the wrong password has been attempted too many times or if we've identified suspicious activity on your account. You can unlock your account on Macquarie Online Banking or the Macquarie Mobile Banking app if you have been locked out from incorrect login detail combinations – you'll just need your Macquarie ID and your mobile number that's registered with us.
 
Unlocking your account on Macquarie Online Banking:
 
  1. On macquarie.com/personal, select Log in
  2. Select Macquarie Online and then select Go
  3. Attempt to log in with your locked credentials
  4. Select Unlock your Macquarie ID to begin the unlock process
  5. Enter your mobile number associated to the Macquarie ID you have been locked out from
  6. You'll receive a one-time SMS code on your mobile. Enter the code to unlock your account
  7. Proceed to log in again.
 
Change your password on the Macquarie Mobile Banking app:
 
  1. Open the Macquarie app
  2. Attempt to log in with your locked credentials
  3. Select Click here to begin the unlock process
  4. Enter your mobile number associated to the Macquarie ID you have been locked out from
  5. You'll receive a one-time SMS code on your mobile. Enter the code to unlock your account
  6. Proceed to log in again.

Your available accounts will be listed in the account list on your dashboard when you log in. All payment functionality is available for these accounts. 
 
 
Here are some simple steps you can take to protect your online accounts.

Use strong passwords and keep them secret

A strong password is:
 
  • between 8 and 256 characters in length - a longer and more complex password is harder for others to decipher
  • a combination of upper and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters (e.g. ! ; - () % )
  • unique – so don’t repeat your password across multiple websites or services
  • never shared with anyone.

If you believe your password has been compromised, change it as soon as possible.

Protect your devices
 

Your devices are your gateway to the internet and need to be protected. Install a reputable antivirus software on your PC or Mac. Avoid using insecure WiFi networks such as public hotspots for sensitive activity like online banking. 

Monitor your accounts
 
Keep an eye on your accounts and be sure to let us know if you see any transactions that you don’t recognise.  You can let us know by calling us on 133 174 (+61 28245 4470 if calling from overseas).
 
Through our mobile app, you can enable push notifications, so that you are alerted each time your account is used for a transaction.  
 
To do this, open your Macquarie Mobile Banking app:
 
  1. Go to your profile
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Turn on Receive Push Notifications
  4. Select the notification types you would like to receive.
