We also designed the Business Savings Account with a digital application process so that eligible businesses can open an account online in minutes.

The Business Savings Account cannot be linked to a debit card. You can however make payments from the account using the following methods:

  • BPAY®
  • NPP Payments (PayID®)
  • Internal Transfers and Pay Anyone Payments
  • Direct Credit
  • Direct Debit

You can open a Business Savings Account if:

  • You are a sole trader or the director of an Australian proprietary company
  • You are a permanent resident of Australia
  • You or your business do not hold any of these Macquarie products: transaction, savings or cash management account, term deposit, home or car loan, credit card, online trading or wealth account
  • You or your business do not hold an AFSL and are not an authorised AFSL representative
  • There are no trusts in your entity structure.

Once you’ve set up your new Macquarie Business Savings Account it will be visible in your account list on Macquarie Online and the Macquarie Mobile Banking app. To access your account through Macquarie Online:

  1. Go to macquarie.com.au/everyday-banking
  2. Click Login
  3. Select Personal > Macquarie Online
  4. Log in with your Macquarie ID

The Financial Claims Scheme (FCS) is an Australian Government scheme that provides protection and quick access to deposits in banks, building societies and credit unions in the unlikely event that one of these financial institutions fails. The FCS is commonly referred to as the Australian Government Bank Deposit Guarantee.

The FCS applies to the Macquarie Business Savings Account. Under the FCS, deposits are protected up to a limit of $250,000 for each account holder at any bank, building society, credit union or other authorised deposit-taking institution (ADI) that is incorporated in Australia and authorised by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA). You can create a PayID using the Macquarie Mobile Banking app or through Macquarie Online Banking.

Before you start, there are a few things you need to have done or your request could be denied: 

  • make sure your PayID (your mobile number) is not registered at another bank
  • you hold an eligible Macquarie account that can be linked to your PayID as some accounts such as a Macquarie Cash Management Account cannot be linked
  • we completed verifying your identity
  • if you have a joint account, one or more PayIDs can be registered to an account, provided each PayID is unique and not already in use.

If you’d like to move your PayID from one Macquarie account to another (e.g. from a personal account to a business account), you’ll need to close the existing PayID and then set it up again with the new account.
