The Department of Social Services has released the indexed payment rates and thresholds that apply to pensions and allowances from 20 March 2019 and the Department of Health has released the indexed fees and charges that apply to aged care residents. From this time, the maximum Age Pension payment will increase:
- from $916.30 to $926.20 per fortnight for singles, and
- from $1,381.40 to $1,396.20 per fortnight for couples
The disqualifying assets and income test thresholds for singles and couples have also increased.
Payment rates and thresholds have also been indexed for a number of other income support payments including Newstart Allowance, Youth Allowance, Rent Assistance and Parenting Payment.
